Well, don't want to gloat too much (since life has a funny way of coming around behind you and punching you in the back of the head if you do!), but just finished moving into my own house, no longer a mere landless peasant, but a country gentleman with land! OK, only a quarter acre, but she's mine, or she will be in 30 short years! Best part is it backs to open farmland, and has a completely unobstructed view of the Rockies and Longs Peak (14,000+ feet) from every part of the back yard and west facing side of the house (including my bedroom). It sits just high enough to be able to see over any future subdivisions they might build, unless the buildings are 3 or more stories high. And it is bascially just a couple turns out of my driveway to back country roads around Boulder and down to Eisenhower Tunnel. Did exactly that the weekend before we closed on her, and rode over Loveland Pass (11,000') to Arapahoe Basin and Breckenridge, then down through South Park to the back side of Pikes Peak and Colorado Springs. Oh, and the wife loves it too, I guess that also matters!

Congrats on the new house man I hope it brings you happiness for years to come.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

Yeah, I imagine it will take years to come to grips with having to serve this sentence!

A buddy of mine lives in Englewood, rides an R3T and does Iron Butt runs all over Colorado. Let me know if you need someone to ride with.

well so far John, my longest rides have been about 5 hours, up to Cache La Poudre canyon, and my latest ride to the Springs via the back country, so not sure I'm ready to tag along with a Iron Butter just yet. Heck, I just want to be able to make it to Dwights next spring!

Sounds like an ideal situation you have there, Greg! I'm happy to hear everything seems to be fallin' into place for you and the family there in Colorado. (...and yep, I'll expect to see ya next June in Prescott, alright!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Greg, I've driven those same roads all the while wishing I was on a bike (particularly the canyon roads off 93). Check out Red Hills Motorcycle Werx up in Lyons. They are good folks. Also, for a virtual bike show every Saturday and Sunday hit Buffalo Rose and Susies in Golden.

I used to ride up through Poudre Canyon before they flooded it to make the reservoir. Nice area.

Just, remembered that Hygiene which just west of your location is some of my families old stomping grounds from on my moms side. AmyLee and I may have to take a ride out your way and check the area out some time. Anyway, I understand there is family buried in the Cemetery off of Hygiene road. Happy Homestead! Bob and AmyLee

I spent a 1980 January in Leadville couch surfing back in my Bohemian/ranger/hippie days, whilst my buddies spent their days taking folks on snowmobile tours out of Breckenridge. . I did have a 76 T140 in the pickup. Good times, not to be repeated here
Enjoy the landscapes

93 is one of my favorite roads, need to make the run up to Coal Creek Canyon still. Will check out Lyons since I love going to Oskar Blues up there....

John, what landscapes? You mean there is something out here to look at besides those hills to the west of my house?

Sounds like a pretty nice place. Good for you man, I remember being sick over the first house I bought, but it's all good. I've always wanted to visit Colorado, I hear it's a lot like NH but I've only been to the airport.

here are some sunset pics from the backyard, which looks toward Boulder and Longmont, but have a view from Broomfield to Loveland (approx) On a clear day, I can find a high spot not too far away and see Pikes Peak 100 miles south... My back yard

Been to Franconia Notch, and yes, there are mountains, but it's a whole different feel. Rather than quaint old villages in heavily treed mountains, it's more open, and obviously the moutains are a tad higher. And a lot less trees on the mountains so you can see them much more clearly (I lived in the southern end of the Berkshires in CT and sometimes it was very hard to tell you were in the mountains other than the rushing streams and twisty roads. It was only when you'd hit the top of a ridgeline that you could look out over the rest of the mountains. Both beautiful in their own unique ways and regardless I liked both kinds of mountains...
