I've got the America hub & am now looking at the rest of my big rear wheel build.

Has anybody built one using parts from Buchanans? I've emailed them but no reply as of yet.

The BC kit uses a 5.5" rim & a 200 series tire. I suppose this is as large a wheel that will fit in the swingarm so its what Im going to go for.

What kind of offset am I looking at?

S.

Where did you get your wheel built? How wide is the rim?

I'd love to see some pics!

Buchanans got back to me.

$354 for the rim, $129 for the spokes, $95 to lace & true.

I'll be doing it myself to save some shipping & labour!

Funny I just found this thread and I just emailed Buchannans too. I have a 16" wheel and I have a replacement rim to go wider. What was shipping like to Buchannans and back? Also, does anyone know what size 200 wide 16" tire I would need? I've been sitting on this project for a long time, and I just failed my inspection cause of my rear tire, so it's time...

I went with 200mm/16" and 1 Avon and 1 Metz are the only tires that are 200mm/16, go 200mm/17" and you get a choice of 3 or 4 more tires. Think sprocket change as well. a 43-44 tooth rear or a 16 T front, unless you can deal with 16-17 MPH at idle in first. Make sure the inner of your rear fender is unobtrusive as well. Your putting 3 Lbs of baloney in a 3 Lbs bag. Oh yeah, if it was me to do over, forget about using the chainguard any more or give it a proper trim job. A precision chain/sprocket alignment is the goal here as well. Man, them big tires are expensive!

Thanks for the advice! I found the Metz for $220 online, so it's not horrible.
