Hi all. Its an 03 BA with Triumphs short slash cut off road pipes. I've removed the AI and the snorkles and now, thanks all, adjusted the mixture to 3.5 turns but she still pops on deceleration. Is it time to change the jet sizes? am I turning the right way? should I be screwing in to reduce the popping? Thanks all again,
Jon

Hi Jon
Mine does that all the time and I kinda like it, all I have removed is the AI, everything else is standard...

I like it too, I thought I was damaging the engine in some way. So is 3 and a half turns ok then with some nice popping?

You may have to go to as much as 4 and a half turns out. If after going that far you still have a lot of poping you may have to go to larger pilots. Depending on your pipes some rumbling is normal on the low end.

IMHO 4.5 turns out is way to much. You probably need to go to larger jets if your 3.5 turns out and she's still popping.

Go to 45 pilots and 3 out... Should not pop then.

I agree, I went to the 45 pilots and 145 Mains and she stopped completely. I was able to turn the air screws in to 2.75 turns and she runs great. You may not need the 145 mains. 130 will probably do fine.

4 and a half turns or larger pilots are achiving the same end. I went to larger pilots after removing the air box and other tricks. No harm in going to 4and1/2 and easier than changing out the pilots. Not just my opinion but my dealers as well when we were discussing tuneing on different bikes. The dealer I bought mine from regularly goes 4 or more out to cure popping. And lots of bikes run to rich with 45 pilots. However if you can't adjust it out then you have no recourse but to change out the pilots.

Good to hear everyone's suggestions from experience. That's why this site is so great. I have a similiar situation w/my 04 tba...I recently put in 130 mains but the 45 pilots are on standby in case adjusting the air screws doesn't work. I lost the first d-tool and am waiting for the other to arrive. Tried bending old brake line on a vice but couldn't get that to work. A visual inspection looks like the air screws are different turns out from the factory. That doesn't seem right.
