All, being one of those lovers of salt I thought I'd share a couple of the results from the SCTA (Southern California Timing Association) Speed Week @ Bonneville Salt Flats this year. There were a couple of older (& perhaps somewhat modified) old Bonnie 750cc that made the run this year. Foremost among them were these two FAST machines..... Run Date:8/17, Entry# 1712B, owner/rider: Tyler/Malinky Class: 750CC, prev. record = 108.732 mph, New record =117.108 mph, Triumph pre-unit Lowbrow HT Run Date:8/18, Entry# 732B, owner/rider: Lackey/ Sperry Class: 750CC, prev record = 158.161 mph New Record = 158.462, Triumph Bonneville 158.5 mph is really movin! My speedo only goes to 120! Real good runs for old Triumphs for sure. I tried to post the pic of the first bike but it didn't take (user error propably LOL). I knew there was a reason I have prefered Triumph motocycles over the years.

My buddy is flying there tomorrow. I wish I was going too.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

I'm sure he'll have a nice visit , but it'll be pretty lonely out there. Speed Week 2011 was 8/13 thru 8/19/2011. The next SCAT event @ Bonneville Salt Flats will be the World finals in October.

I didn't know it was two different events.

Speed Week, BUB Speed Trials and the World of Speed are three different events held at the Bonneville Salt Flats.

What classes did those bikes run in? (besides 750cc)
A gut in our RAT Pack is down there running in the BUBS Speed Trials with his '04 Bonneville running in the 1000cc modified partially streamlined class. The last two years, he held the record for about an hour. The year before that he did come out with the record. Something like 130mph or so.

I didn't notice in the SCAT stats if either of these bikes ran in other classes but I'll check again. I don't think either ran in as streamliners. Just FYI....I like to check the stats each year just sso I kin give my HD riding bros the business on who makes a faster machine...

Thanks for update on events scheduled @ Bonneville there Locopony....I didn't know the AMA had an event there. I mostly follow the SCAT schedule....The AMA event sounds like a hoot too! Will the timed runs apply for entry in the SCTA world event in October?

I am guessing that this will have nothing to do with the SCTA event.
