Considering I paid for an oil change 3 weeks ago....I'm pretty proud of this pic.....(I rejetted from stock 120 mains to 130 mains - which is what the almighty jet calculator said to do) And the finished product (yes, it runs....) New 20" turn-outs Yay me.

Sounds amazing. Running good. Lost a little low end maybe. But not much.

Had some popping too (always did - but more now...) - so, adjusted the pilot screws from 3 turns out down to 2.5 turns out - we'll see. about to go test ride.

so....going 2.5 on the pilot screws was the wrong direction. I just set them back to 3 til I know more....ignorance, it turns out, is not bliss.
reading up in the exhaust forum, there's a pretty convincing thread on disconnecting the throttle position sensor to eliminate most of the poppping.
thoughts? (I'm hesitant to just disconnect some "necessary" component)

Disconnect it. Trust me, it helps. Mine has been disconnected for over 3 years, no problems. Don't forget there are a number of aftermarket carbs for our bikes without a throttle position sensor and they run fine.
You could also try 3.5 turns out but you might also want to switch to 45 pilot jets if you end up going that much.

+1 on upping the pilot if you go more than 3 turns out. You may also want to play with adding a shim or two to the needle if you think it feels a little flat when you roll on the throttle. Those pipes sound great! Looks good.

I think we'll be moving over to exhaust.

Tps disconnected. Nary a pop!! Seems like slightly better roll on accel. Idle speed increased a little (more than I want) will have to take that back down. Definitely no intent to reconnect the tps though!

did you take the factory air box out? 130 seems low to me if you have everything opened up, mine is running 150's and up a size on the pilots, tons of torque fuel is still decent, no AIS and not a pop to be heard anytime at all.

Everything but the pipes (and now the jets) is stock. 130 is what dinqua/friar jet calculator came up with. Seems to be running well now.

I'm running 135 mains, TBS needles, and 42 pilots. My snorkels are removed with the top snorkel mount opened up 1 inch. TORs for exhaust. My plugs have gone from white to a light tan. TPS disconnected and she runs great. One of these days I'm going to try the 45 pilots I have but I'm happy with the way it runs now.

at some point I will have her dyno'd and see what that tells me. I'd like to really fine tune performance. at this point, frankly, I was excited that she started after I rejetted.... :-P
