hey guys this is 1 very nice old KZ1000

more to the point ....it was
out riding a couple of week's ago she developed a horrible rattle
pulled it to pieces today to find...

what i hope is maybe someone can give us a idea as to why a perfectly good running engine with less then 2500k's on it after a wisco piston kit was fitted, should destroy it self, previous owner had the kit fitted befor a friend bought the bike

OUCH!
How was the plug that you pulled out of that hole? Was it beat to pieces or intact?

Those look like pretty high compression pistons for a single-plug head.
It looks like detonation destroyed them.
High-comp 2-valve Kwaks need 2 plug heads.

Look at the piston to the far right. It's starting to fail also. Was the timing modified (too far advanced)? Low grade gas used? Compression too high? Overheated? Engine running too lean?

All contribute to this kind of piston failure.

hey guys thank you
what you have suggested is pretty much what we had thought
i know the last 1500k's the bike has'nt copped a beating, the 1000 befor then is unknown as the previous owner did them
gues we'll fix her up,make sure the carb's are right and see how it goes
btw it wont be getting the hi comp piston's this time tho
