Not a bad list...... except from being a GM service advisor.... The GMC Acadia/Buick Enclave/Chevy Trverse platform is garbage..... so many issues...

5 of the 10 vehicles "made" in the USA are Japanese, but does that make them American vehicles?

This got me thinking... Is it important to have an "American" badge and support a company or to have any brand/mfg badge that provides jobs to Americans? For me its the latter.

The top American car should be the 1968 Plymouth GTX.

I used to love the Mopar cars but the last two I've had (a Durango and a Caravan) (1) developed terminal illness before their time and, (2) the dealership could not be bothered to try and fix them. JD Power, and other services, indicate that this was about the norm. I'll never buy another. The last two 'new' vehicles I've bought were a Saturn and a Ford truck. Indestructible. Why GM ditched the Saturn and Pontiac (aimed at young adults) and kept the Buick (aimed at those with months to live) is completely beyond me. Especially since they also kept the Caddy. Such decisions might have something to do with how they got in such dire straits.

But with the 426 Hemi, 4spd and 4.11 Dana 60 Super Trac pack option. Make mine a '69.

That is what I found interesting. Support the jobs not the companies name.

Had a few 60's era Mopars (383, 383 Commando & a 440 6-pack) and loved/thrashed them. I bought every old 225 six I could find to use for delivery vehicles. Chrysler lost their focus in the 70's (as did most), and never really regained their dominance. I've got 2 vans now; one with a 318 and one with a 360. The 318 is better. The 360 uses oil and I got a quote yesterday of $1100 to replace a bad catalytic converter (w/only 62K miles on it).
The most trouble free have always been my Toyotas.

Exactly, I have spent the last 10+ years working for "japanese" companies that build most of their cars here, sell their cars here, and have them serviced here, keeping tens of thousands employed.

Toyotas are allowed in Nascar.....that makes them American.
Other drivers complain about the overpowering smell of rice and want to know what Nascar is going to do about it!

My last Dodge -- a 2006 Magnum V6 -- and my current 2010 Challenger V8 rank as two of the most problem-free cars I've ever owned. I guess it's too soon to say anything about the Chally, but in the 4.5 years I had the Magnum the only thing I paid for was two sets of new tires and the scheduled maintenance needed to keep it running in top notch form. It had 170,000 miles when I traded it in, and the head mechanic at the dealership was so impressed at how clean it was he bought it on the spot. Now, whenever I take my car in for oil changes etc, I can see my old ride.
BTW, the WORST car I ever owned was my wife's 1990 Accord. It was in the shop more often than I'd care to count.

I'm not a Ford man but I don't understand why the F-150 isn't on this list? Hasn't it been the top selling vehicle for years?
