I wasn't aware they were released on DVD unmolested. I thought at least Greedo shot first in the DVD version.

Depends on what you mean by "unmolested". There are a few little things that Lucas changed. At the end of Return of the Jedi, it shows the young Anakin Skywalker with Obi-Won.
I haven't watched them in a while, so I don't remember who shot first. If I remember right, Han shot first in the original theater movie too.
It's amazing how long Star Wars has remained relevant. We're gong on 35 years since the original release.

THAT'S NOT A LITTLE THING. That's even more molested than the 20th Anniversary edition. Han shot first, and the adult Annakin Skywalker is Sebastian Shaw. Did they reshoot the "You were right about me Luke" scene from Return on the ramp as Annakin died to replace Shaw?
I used to love all the changes over the years, but now I just think he's watering them down. The original trilogy was art (okay, except maybe the Ewoks). The original Empire is one of the top 10 best movies of all time. The re-releases and prequels were simply soulless commerce. Lucas often opines that he couldn't make them (even the prequels!) the way he wanted because the technology wasn't available, but he's changing the story details, not just the special effects. That has nothing to do with the technology. Han was not a nice guy, he was an ass. He had no problem waxing a bounty hunter in cold blood.
I think that having to work within limitations, sometimes severe limitations, makes a better product. That said, I do think that the artists at Lucasfilm do amazing work. I would kill to work there, even if it was just fetching their coffee. The prequels were just boring. No real plot, practically zilch character development, and what little there was (Annakin->Vader) was handled poorly. Just special effects eye candy.

I agree about the prequels, I did like the added stuff the first time they did it to the first 3 movies but after that there was no reason and they should have left the original charicters and story alone.

Then there are problems that he had to correct because of the people he wanted to cast. The ages don't really work out. But I can see past that. This seems like a good time to bring up yet again the very long and in-depth (and hilarious) dissections or the prequels by Mr. Plinkett. http://redlettermedia.com/plinkett/star-wars/

In 1976 he released the christmas episode.....by far his best work ever. Seriously now the original was an icon of my youth. The remakes were great fun and added some texture to the background. The first sequel was fun and propped up the back story, but the other two lost every thing, including me.

Not to be outdone by the Donnie and Marie Star Wars Special (starring Kris Kristofferson as Han Solo).

I have a copy of the 76 christmas special on VHS. Hard to beat it's got the original cast for all the main characters. Its the cheesiest thing I've ever seen, and prophetic at the same time. With Grand pa Chewbacca watching internet porn. Fantastic stuff. It amazes me that scifi ever took of with all those great special effects of yesteryear.
