Ran into a couple on a HD from Australia once in Ratton, New Mexico....they were scared to death of ridding through Oklahoma...said they had seen the movie "twister" and knew all about our flying cows...I tried to persuade them otherwise but they were quite serious...last I saw of them they were headed off to ride through the serene and calm Texas panhandle to Lubbock then along IH20 to Texarkana...yep, a much safer route than route 66 or IH40 through Oklahoma

In fairness, we enjoyed our visit to OK, but on that trip I was driving the R.V. and towing the bike, and as my daughter likes to tell me, "trailers are for boats"

I've got that sticker on my helmet, "Silly yuppie, trailers are for boats." With all the traffic coming through here for Sturgis, I've been thinking that a lot the past two weeks.

If some simple jetting work could just get the America to pull that 34 foot RV, it would be a different story.

Actually I don't have a problem with an RV towing a bike. A lot of people (maybe most) attending Sturgis camp. You pretty much have to unless you've got friends there or are independently wealthy to afford a room. But pickup (sans camper) or car? Silly. Lazy. Wussy. Whatever. "I don't have time to make it there riding. It takes too long." Pfft. Whatever.

The ride to rallies is the true adventure. Once there the riding is simple riding. Going it with a cage and trailer is like running away from home, but never quite leaving home behind. Go for a ride? Well you have to always go back to the cage. Alas, I'll have to buy a trailer ifn' I want Lynn to participate in riding it seems. Gone are the days where she could ride pillion for 500 miles and 12 hours. Now anything over 200 miles or 60mph is pushing it. Speaking of States I have ridden in, I knocked out the Midwest and Western states Between September of last year and the 2011 SWTF this year. 14K miles of motorsickle nirvana. Gosh, this is an amazing country! Every time I watch Marshall Dillion, I think of winds and desolate roads with no gas. And Highway 50 that had been grooved for like freaking ever! Heck most TV shows now carry some trigger for memories of cross country riding. Riding is a godsend. The act of throwing a leg over and twisting the throttle is beyond description. So whether we ride in one state or many, we all share the bond of riding in the wind.

So go on, put us all to shame and list the countries you have ridden in.
And another thing, when are you going to start on your US trip??
Shaun,
I know the list is big but not really as long as could be considering I have geared a lot of my life since 1981 (practice runs from '77 while a teenager) to riding longish expeditions. I have also probably left a few out.
Many of these countries (primarily in Europe, Morroco and the Near East) I have ridden through again and again and again. Some (around 25) I have ridden again on the Speedmaster (as marked).
1 Andorra (also done on the Speedmaster) 2 Albania 3 Armenia 4 Austria (also done on the Speedmaster) 5 Italy (also done on the Speedmaster) 6 Germany (also done on the Speedmaster) 7 Netherlands (also done on the Speedmaster) 8 Belguim (also done on the Speedmaster) 9 Luxembourg (also done on the Speedmaster) 10 France (also done on the Speedmaster) 11 Monaco (also done on the Speedmaster) 12 Lichtenstein (also done on the Speedmaster) 13 Spain (also done on the Speedmaster) 14 Portugal (also done on the Speedmaster) 15 Denmark (also done on the Speedmaster) 16 Sweden (also done on the Speedmaster) 17 Finland (also done on the Speedmaster) 18 Norway 19 England 20 Scotland 21 Ireland 22 Macedonia 23 Serbia 24 Croatia 25 Bosnia 26 Slovenia 27 Montenegro 28 Bulgaria (also done on the Speedmaster) 29 Romania (also done on the Speedmaster) 30 Moldovia 31 Estonia (also done on the Speedmaster) 32 Latvia (also done on the Speedmaster) 33 Lithuania (also done on the Speedmaster) 34 Belarus 35 Hungary (also done on the Speedmaster) 36 Poland (also done on the Speedmaster) 37 Czech Republic (also done on the Speedmaster) 38 Slovakia (also done on the Speedmaster) 39 Russia (West only) 40 Ukraine 41 Turkey 42 Syria 43 Jordan 44 Iraq 45 Lebanon 46 Israel 47 Yemen 48 Cyprus (also done on the Speedmaster) 49 Egypt 50 Lybia 51 Tunisia 52 Algeria 53 Morocco (also done on the Speedmaster) 54 Mauritania 55 Mali 56 Senegal 57 Gambia 58 Guinea Bissau 59 Guinea 60 Sierra Leone 61 Liberia 62 Cote d'Ivoire 63 Ghana 64 Togo 65 Benin 66 Nigeria 67 Cameroon 68 Equatorial Guinea 69 Gabon 70 Congo 71 Angola 72 Namibia 73 Botswana 74 Zimbabwe 75 South Africa 76 Greece (of course) - (also done on the Speedmaster)
I have often thought and attempted to write travelogues (and failed as they tend to be too long - as are the rides involved) but have now more or less set my mind on one day perhaps writing a series of short stories (other than a fictional book based on real events I have already started ... well sort of) since I have very many in mind ... some perhaps good, some probably indifferent.
... and thereby hangs a tale (I think it was Shakespeare).

Of course not Dwight, most people (heroes) here got married and raised families, something I didn't in order to preserve the freedom and flexibility to be able to pursue my ... bad habits. Not exactly a level playing field.

LOL! You are one of the few people who have seen first-hand both the fake Macedonia (the little country lying north of Greece) and the real Macedonia (province within Greece) including the birthplace of ole Alexander the Great. It was an honor and a privilege to be with you riding on both occasions.

Thank you kindly Jim. It is my intention to get over there to your amazing country and get lost for a year or so discovering it. As you probably know, my country is in a bit of a shambles right now so it's not the right time to be undertaking such expeditions. It will be truly special to be able to look up so many friends I have interacted with on here, over the years. A few from the US and Canada (not to mention a lot of the Europeans, of course), I have been blessed to have already met personally.

You right about that. Arkansas has some nice ridin roads too.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

You are not kidding - Thanassis is da man! (and btw Thanassis put me down for a copy of the first edition of Bedouin Travels)
Although I have traveled to Asia, Africa, North America as well as extensively in Europe I have only managed to ride in 14 different European countries (even then had to split the United Kingdom and include the likes of Luxembourg and Liechtenstein to get the numbers up).
Pathetic effort on my part - inspiration drawn from more adventurous contributors. Planning next years trip to the former Eastern Bloc that should make my numbers look a little more respectable.
