I've just installed the AI removal kit on my BA, thanks Brent, and now I'm thinking of the next mod. I already have Triumphs offroad short Slash cuts on the bike and have removed the snorkles. Is it going to harm the engine if I don't replace the jets, needles and install a unifilter until next month. The wife wont let me spend any more money! or am I just going to loose power. Any help gratefully recieved, Jon

if you have a 05 and up (maybe 04 also) you need the D tool. check brents site www.newspeedmaster.com and he has them. worth getting for future mods anyways. if its older you ca use a screwdriver. http://members.bluefrog.com/~pwhitbec/Triumph/carbs0.html check that site to and you can see where everyting is on these carbs Frank

Since the bike was originally setup to run too lean I suspect that, now you've been bitten by the modification bug, the engine will hold up better than you will.
If you can still reach 7000 rpms while riding without the engine cutting out, your mixture is rich enough that the engine isn't likely to be hurt, especially if you don't get crazy on it.

Don't feel bad Jon, every one of us was in your position at one time or another. Ask away!! You can adjust your air mixture with a short piece of 1/4" metal brake line. Take one end and tap it with a hammer until you make a D out of it. A little trial and error and you have a mixture adjustment tool. Some people have removed the air mixture screw and sawn a cut across the top so a slotted screwdriver will work for adjusting. If you do remove them completely, put a small towel under the carbs as there is a washer and O-ring on each that could get lost. Definitely check out Pat's pages and specifically where he talks about adjusting the pilot screws.

Fair comment. I found myself hiding the credit card statements and saying "Oh that... I've had it for ages!!" Is this normal??

It would really depend on what you want out of it. If it runs fine for you now, don't mess with it and keep the peace. Yes, most of the wives are like that, you are not unique.
Dinqua does have a great page listed above. Visit it. He takes all the fear and guesswork out the stuff. He is a great asset to this forum for sure. Every time I do something I think, dang I should have photos of that! Thanks Dinqua for thinking of us.

OK, Dipstick here. I've looked at Dinqua's site, wow! Unfortunately, being as lame as I am I still can't find the mixture screw. I took the bike out for a run and it still pops excessively on deceleration. A lot faster than before!! Obviously I need to turn the mixture screw, if I could find it. My BA is 03 so I wont need the D tool. Is it on the left hand side or right, or one both sides! Please help stupid bloke!!

There's one in each carburettor, underneath, hidden behind a wee metal disk. One method to remove the disk is to very carefully drill a small hole in the disk, then screw a small sheetmetal screw in the hole and pull screw and all out. You can throw the bleeding thing away, it's just there to keep you from making the engine run right.

Thanks for that, I thought I was being stupid looking all over the carbs. It looks like the disks have been removed. I now have to find a screwdriver small / short enough to fit under the carbs for me to make the adjustments. Jon
