That's ok a lot of people don't even know they still make bikes at all.

The two buildings are probably 1/2 mile or so apart by road but you might be able to hit one from the other with a brick if you could clear the factory in the middle of 'em.

That is what I thought. The J in the VIN designates the assembly plant. A separate plant would have its own identifier.

I get it now though.

The letter J designates the country of origin, not the plant.

Thailand, note the T before the last six numbers in the vin number. If made in England it would be a J.

Hey StevieB, as usual you produced not a single thing productive in this thread. Is there something about Rynegold's question that deserved a smart answer like that?

Grow up clown. If you don't know an answer or have nothing good to say, just don't touch your keyboard. What an asshat. How does that feel in a public forum to get slighted jerk.

Rynegold, you asked a very valid question pertinent to the existing thread. You will see that the two post by StevieB were both smart mouthed and useless. I am sorry you got that response.

Geeesh Ron lighten up. Get out of the wrong side of bed Mate? Only tryin to add a little humor to a somewhat boring thread.

As for getting slighted on a public forum most people would see that you have completely over reacted and shown yourself to be the jerk. Personally I do not try and act the tough guy on the other side of a computer and resort to name calling. No one else has ever reacted with a personal attack for my addition of a little joke but now that I know you feel that way I will make a mental note not to add anything to your posts.

Lots of factories are set up like that here in Houston, with fabrication and assembly in two separate buildings in close proximity, but we don't call it two factories.

Hey no offence taken guys... I've owned good stuff from stranger places than Tanzania!

"If" indeed they had a factory there, no doubt they'd make a good bike.

The British had a pretty good presence in "Siam" back in colonial times so, I guess you could say they ARE British made.... sorta.

Boring is in the eye of the beholder. Not all threads need to be "funny," even in the Lounge.

That said, Ron's reaction was probably a little strong.

Now nobody run off in a huff and threaten to quit the site. That's soooo last year.

I took these pics at their recruitment drive, over in Thailand, a few years ago. This was set-up in a big shopping mall near the hotel I was staying in. I just happened to come across it unexpectedly. I was going up the escalator from the second floor to the third and ...hello!!

I was very tempted to throw my name in the hat for one of the senior factory positions, except I was already in Thailand on someone else's nickel. As you can see, they had a SM on display. They also had a Rocket as well. They also build the Americas there as well. I showed him a cell phone pic of my old bike.

That is why I thought they only had the one Moe. It appears to be pretty specific to Hinkley England not just the country.

But I do see where they have two facilities next to one another kinda.

Is it grandstanding by Triumph, or just another case of shoddy journalism?

Personally, I'm inclined to think its the latter. After all, it's very easy to mis-hear when you hack into someone else's private phone calls

It seems you guys haven't heard that Triumph is thinking of opening up a Factory-6 very soon...and what they're going to to make there is to make a little better attempt to let it be known to the world that Factories 1-5 have been up and running for years now!

(...so far it seems, Factories 1-5 haven't been doing a very good job of that, as you folks might have noticed, what with that often heard exclamation of surprise we get of "So Triumph is STILL makin' motorcycles?!")

Journalism is usually shoddy. However, Triumph on their website, says

Excerpt:

"Where are Triumph’s factories based?
Triumph has five world class factories around the world, all 100% owned by our company. Two of these factories are based in Hinckley in the UK, the other three are in Chonburi, Thailand."
