You must live in the wrong part of Australia Steve, as its been low 20c's (around 72f for uneducated people)and sunny up here in Qld, I'd suggest you migrate up this way, but I think their stopping immigrants at the border now restricting who comes in to Qld, after all we already took 90% of NSW's undesirables for the Olmpics so Sydney would look like a good place.

Same here. Very enjoyable. 100 today and it's pretty much been like that for weeks. Can't remember the last time it rained. Still none in sight either for a cool down or rain.

It's getting into the upper 80s with high humidity in Asheville and WE JUST AREN'T USED TO IT. Used to be summer days topped out at 80 with mild to moderate humidity. The last few summers we've gotten a lot more humidity and a little more heat. On the upside Mount Mitchell is only a short ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway and it never gets above about 72 there.
Dwight, I might be heading your way next winter. We'll (me + wife) be driving my truck but we might bring along our new toys and do some exploring. We picked up a couple KLR 650s this week.

Wife and I once took the California Zephyr (train) from Denver to Glenwood Springs. Much fun.

I remember riding into Helena years ago and, as I entered the city, I saw a large sign proclaiming that Helena was the home of "The World's Second Largest lead Smelter." It stuck me as an odd greeting.

Lead smelter? We have more in common than I thought! Trail is home to the world's largest lead, zinc, silver smelter. Boogie on!!!

But you go

Well a process man am I and I'm tellin' you no lie

There's thunder all around me and there's poison in the air
There's a lousy smell that smacks of hell and dust all in me hair"

Let us know when ya pick the dates for that and Judie and I will be happy to hook up with you and your wife, Chet!

However, you do realize that during the winter, Prescott does get the occasional blanketing of snow, but that usually just lasts a few days and is back up to around a sunny 50-55 within a few days after that.

104 here in Northern Virginia. With humidity the heat index was 124. Went out on a ride and it felt like I was riding in a blast furnace, rode about 5 miles and turned around and went home.

As far as I can remember it gets hot in the summer and cold in the winter. That didn't change this year, and not likely to next. 100 degree temps from July till the end of August typical every where I have ever lived, from Chicago to Houston. Lakes and beaches are real popular this time of year for a reason.
The only advise I can give is sunscreen, where it, when ever you are out side.

If you can't see the extreme weather changes from past years you are nuts. Here is the average weather in OKC. http://www.meoweather.com/history/United%20States/na/35.4675/-97.5161111/Oklahoma%20City.html

Last July 24th it was 95 degrees and this year it is 108. This year it started getting in the 100's in Mid June where as normally it doesn't get that hot here until late July or August. And I have a feeling if you check your weather records in Texas you have the same situation.

Well, it IS the middle of summer. I wear my perforated Triumph jacket and drink lots of water.

Last year, before my trip to California, I stopped by the local Harley shop to see what they had in the bike luggage department. When I came out to get back on the Triumph a very pretty young thing on the back of the Harley parked next to me was wearing short shorts, a halter top and sandals (looking VERY good by the way) She asked me "Aren't you hot in all that?" I answered, "Yes, but if someone hits me most of the skin I'll leave behind came off a cow!"

Last fall I left Dwight's house in Prescott for Los Angeles. I spent six hours with the temperature between 110 and 115. I drank 8 liters of water and didn't pee once. Now THAT was hot.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

102 during today's ride. Don't mind the heat. I ride when ever, where ever. But I'll remind those enjoying cooler temps that in 6 mos, I'll still be riding.

I was in the OKC 13 years ago in the middle of july, for a church youth function (as a counselor). It was in the hundreds the whole week. Last year was the mildest summer I have experienced in houston. I do work out side so the weather is a huge part of my life. The hottest summer I can remember was in 1980, I was in Arkansas then people were dropping like flies. They canceled little league baseball that year.
