just into it again out is lean in is rich right im running 135s and 42s straight pipe one baffle snorkels out k &n single.Seems to be running a little rich when its hot if i give it any gas at all while starting it backfires scares the crap out of pedestrians....oh picked up temp guage what temp do our bikes run.Put on a oil pressure guage today too .....she barks like a dawg purrs like a kitten oh ya thumb screws heck with that d tool thingy not finessy enough

Hello Mike,

Maybe we can help out. Turning the idle screws out richens the mixture...in leans it. Backfiring on engine start up is something I put up with about once every 30 starts. I do not give the bike any gas on startup otherwise she will backfire.

right on thanks all, with the new thumb screws its easy to tinker I guess i should justleave it at 2 1/2 out it runs nice doesnt backfire if I crank it on and on decel gearing down it growls like a dog .There is no dynos for like 800 miles,but a friend of mine has a merc tuner so we can balance them out.ONe more question has anybody tried to pull a plug wire grnd it and fire it up and set the carbs that way.Anyhoo thanks again and have a good one.

The temps will vary quite a bit depending on where you are and with the ambient temp. Up in the tundra of western New York, mine runs about 175ºF most of the time, maybe sightly warmer in traffic. But it gets up around 200ºF in extreme heat.

You don't have to remove the 1 wire to adjust the mixture, just makes it easier to hear when the cyl. being adj. starts to run rough. You can do the same thing with both cyl. firing just have to listen closer.

thanks all took her out for a test tonite about 2 1/2out runs great think ill leave it.no backfires on start up straight start no throttle when its hot.you were right on dinqua about 180 degrees and it was a hot one up north today
