http://thekneeslider.com/archives/2011/07/08/triumph-small-displacement-single-cylinder-rumors/

"there are rumors of Triumph planning a new street single in the 350cc range...the August issue of Motorcyclist picked up on an article from Motociclismo, reporting on plans to assemble a motorcycle in Manuas, Brazil from knock down kits manufactured in Thailand. It would show up sometime in 2012.

"The engine would be a liquid cooled 4 valve single, displacing anywhere from 267cc to 350cc depending on the market."

I sure like my 350 thumper... she's a torquey little thing! It this bike ever does arrive, it would be a lot of fun to ride, I'm sure.

I like that dry sump inverted 3 cyl. engine on that same page. Pretty wild idea.

There's one thing you've gotta give Triumph credit for and that is the way they are capable of feeding the rumour train.
Just look at the lead up the new baby Tiger got last year.
Lots of sneak peaks and market testing.
Lost of very teasing little video clips.
I wonder if it will be the same for their rumoured single?

I would consider that for a commuter.

me too - but my commute is partly on the freeway - so I need it to be freeway ready - to be able to go fast enough to not get run over.

A 350 single should be able to do 80-100MPH with no problems. I had a 100cc street/trail Yamaha in 68 that would do 70.

Sorry Ron, but either you're dreamin' here and/or your recollection of that old Yamaha of yours has been filtered through rose-colored glasses after all these years. Yep, okay, that 100cc Yamaha might have done 70, but not for any length of time...or at least comfortably so.

Take for instance that a modern Kawasaki KLR650 single will cruise at 75MPH somewhat comfortably, but a 350cc single would pretty much be screamin' near its limits at that speed. And, at "80-100MPH"? That little sucker would REALLY be screamin' at its limits.

(...while going downhill with a strong tailwind!)

Seem to recall a 250 Suzuki Hustler that reached speeds of the ton-albeit a two stroke and they did scream alright!!!

347? That's the displacement I want my Ford 289 small block to be. Oh wait, that CID, not CC.

I would love a 350 single (water cooled or not) as long as it looks more like a vintage Triumph cafe racer and less like a Buell Blast.
