I've added a small/medium shield from slipstreamer (found it on fasteddie's site) as well as some saddlebags. I've got some more chrome on order as well - will update as things get added. Having a blast with my first bike in 26 years!

The 2002s are certainly enjoying a bit of a renaissance...

And I found a speedo on the classifieds forum - so, I can finally get that problem fixed at a reasonable cost. Then it will be "good as new"!

I really like the shield, actually. The smoke looks good with the black and silver. And it's just big enough to give me the protection I want without being so big as to detract from the bike. Yep - FE - it's the SHD-0 shield from slipstreamer.

I really need a second bike - I want one bagger and one more solo-street version.

I got my replacement speedo today (thanks Malloy!) - works perfectly.

I noted the mileage on the old one when I removed it, and the mileage on the new one when I put it on. Beyond that, I really don't know what I'm supposed to do, legally, to track the difference (new one is 6635.4 miles less than the old one)

It's nice to have some idea if I'm going to get pulled over or not.....

Now I can move on to the chrome bits I want - and a front turn-signal re-lo.

Hasso: I just took my old one and put it in a box where I keep old parts. If I ever sell the bike (doubtful), I'll give it to the new owner, tell him the story and put the real mileage on the back of the title.

No worries! And isn't it nice to ride and not see the needle bouncing around? Drove me friggin nuts.

Ted

yeah - it really did drive me nuts.....pegged at what I would estimate was about 40 MPH. Maybe I'll dissect the old one and see what the hell was wrong with it. Who knows, maybe I can fix it.... (yeah....that's the ticket...)

I tried that too, it's not easy to open cleanly, and once you are in there, not much to fiddle with. It is a kind of really bizzare mechanism. Thats why your odo works when your speedo doesn't. When I had my trouble, I found some threads that basically said, give it up, buy a new one.
