Hi Folks. My 2010 has just burned the city/park light out that lives in the headlight bucket. I can't seem to find what the bulb is. It's not even mentioned in the owner's manual

Does anybody know what type it is and wattage?

Thanks,
H.

Thanks for the reply, Erwin.

I finally got around to changing this bulb today. The connector is just like a rubber grommet in the headlight, so a gentle pull is all that is required to remove from the back of the light. I removed the headlight from the bike as I didn't want to risk breaking anything.

The bulb is a wedge type bulb. There were markings on the bulb, but they came off when I removed the bulb from the fitting

The bulb just pulls out of the rubber socket. I used a standard North American bulb type #168, which is rated for 5 watts. Euro spec is a W5W.

It seems brighter than it used to be (before it burnt out ). It could be that the original one was 3 watts, but I don't know for sure.

Oh yes, I also put dielectric grease on the socket contacts and a bit around the grommet fitting to help with moisture.

Do you actually use it?

Is it a requirement in Canada to use when parking in the evening (or just a personal precaution)

The front one just seems so superfluous to me.

Hey Ken. I don't use the park light for parking. I like it working for two reasons.

1. I like everything to work. Fits with my Type-A personality

2. Presence. Yeah, it's not much being a 5 watt bulb, but should the headlight fail while riding, at least it is something for oncoming vehicles to see. My Yamaha's had running/signal light and offered a bit of a presence. In some countries that configuration is illegal and city/park lights are used instead.

Came in handy for me once when I lost low beam.

I thought I'd post a pic of how much light the City Light produces. I personally think it's a good thing to have should the headlight fail while riding:

This is with the #168 wedge bulb which is 5 watts or a W5W bulb.
