I stumbled upon this blog about these two guys making a trip around the world on Triumph Tigers. As in typical blogspot.com format, newer posts are on top, but here is the link to the first page. If you're interested, read from the bottom up; I've really been enjoying reading about their travels: http://poorcirculation.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2008-01-25T10%3A27%3A00-08%3A00 Blog's introduction: "Prior to her death in 2007 my Mother, Barabara Thomas, mentioned that she had only two regrets in life. Firstly, that my Father George Thomas had died before having the chance to meet his new grandchildren in Boonville, California. Secondly, she wished that together they could have ridden their beloved Triumph Thunderbird on roads as beautiful as those on the Pacific Coastline, namely 'California Highway 1'. One year later, I quit my job as a London Despatch Rider, sold all of my worldy goods and invested the proceeds in a Triumph Tiger Motorcycle. With a budget of around twenty pounds per day, I set out to ride around the world carrying with the most important package of my career. With the prospect of crossing at least 27 international borders, the contents of the special package had to remain a secret until I was safely in America. The package contained the ashes of my parents, George and Barbara Thomas. They rode with me through Europe and the Balkans, across Russia, Siberia and the Far East, and then finally down the Pacific Coast Highway through the Giant Redwood Forests to Boonville California where they were finally scattered. That original journey ended in November 2008 when having ridden 28,000 miles I arrived back at the Ace Cafe in London. However, without the burdens of wealth and property to slow me down ......... the journey continues .... "

The idea of selling all my worldly possessions and heading out on a bike gets me to thinking... (but I'd keep a guitar or two).

The idea sure sounds good to me, too. Only thing is, my wife MIGHT have an objection or two since she doesn't ride. But then again............. OH! I mean ........
I'm speeding because I have to get there before I forget where I was going.

Thats pretty nice. I guess a good hard case for packing on the bike, and you could be off for the open road if you wanted.

This has been a great read. It's the type of story that always leaves me feeling envious, ultimate freedom. Selling it all to hit the road is a pretty high price to pay tho. I could never convince the other half... I'd miss her.
I have one of those traveler guitars, they're great for practice but they don't project. The martin backpacker is on my shortlist.
