I have watched three episodes of the singing show, "The Voice" now. The wife watches it, and I watch along, a little. Jeeezzz, could talent be any lamer. Lackluster performances, plenty of flat notes, (OMG, and I mean PLENTY!) And the hyperbole critics from the "judges"! Stand up ovations, "the best I've ever seen", "a new star is born right in front of America tonight",..... Awwwwwww, gooooood Lord! Really, the singing is nearly half as good as American Idol. Am I alone in America in thinking that this is one laaaaaaaame show!!!

Whatever happened to Space Patrol, City at Night, Paliden, and Dragnet? The morning farm report is better than most of the crap they have on these days.

No you are not alone. The voice, American Idol, Americas got talent, all reality tv, and nearly all scripted program tv sucks rocks. There are only 3 good tv shows The Simpsons, family Guy, and Mythbusters. I can hardly watch sports on tv because its more commercials than action.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

Ya know folks, there ARE still some pretty darn good scripted drama and comedy shows on TV, DESPITE all of these presently presented so-called "reality shows".
My personal favorites right now are:
"Blue Bloods" "Law & Order: LA" "Law & Order: SVU" "Parenthood" "The Big Bang Theory" "Mike and Molly" "Rules of Engagement" "Two and a Half Men"(yep, even WITH a cast that includes that boneheaded Charlie Sheen...but I digress)
AND, even though I suppose the following could be called a "reality show", I'm really into the History Channel's "Pawn Stars" right now!(in a way it's very educational...well, that is whenever that boneheaded Chumley isn't onscreen, anyway!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

"The Killing", great show!

Well if it's gonna go THIS way..., The Mentalist Antique Roadshow Glee (just the singing parts) (the plotline is banal) American Idol (occasionally) And I LIKE "America's Got Talent", some good talent, some awful, some funny awful. But to digress further.... What in Hades happened to Sunday Night TV?!!! It used to be, the best shows were shown then! Bonanza, Wild West, the Ed Sullivan Hour, various cool spy shows...Now, it is so crappy, I quit watching Sunday night totally! (the wife loves America's funniest videos) BRING BACK THE BEST ON SUNDAY NIGHT STUFF! (And P.S., all of the "reality" shows suck really bad. Goes to show how dumb America really is to watch this pure crap, i.e., I can hear the IQ of the U.S. drop 30 points every time I hear one of those shows come on, just before I turn it off)

Ummmmm, because all the actors are either dead or in nursing homes could be ONE reason these aren't on anymore.
I actually enjoy America's got talent and American Idol in the first few weeks of each season when they have the initial "cattle call" try outs, and the people with absolutely NO talent at all show up to strut their stuff and embarrass themselves. Now THAT'S entertainment!!
Last year on AGT, my favorite was a guy named "Prince Poppycock." The guy was over the top and extremely (and flamboyantly) talented. He made it to the finals, along with a phenomenal 10 YO girl who has an incredible voice, but neither won the top prize.
