I just had a strange call from a customer I sold a rear sprocket to. He claims it doesn't fit. I received the wrong sprocket before from my suppliers so I thought that could be the case here. But my customer tells me the model number stamped into the sprocket is correct.
It's my understanding that the America & Speedmaster use the same 43T rear sprocket as the standard Bonnie. No?

Mike, I am 99.99% sure the BA/SM have a stock 42 tooth rear sprocket. I would have to verify this in my parts fiche though to be 100% sure. I say this due to the ratio info supplied on the belt drive kits, QPD also states we have 42 toothers on the rear.
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

BA/SM's use a 42t. Bonneville a 43t. As per the service manual.

Nope. If you look up the final drive ratio for the Bonne/T100, they are different even though they use the same sprocket at the transmission end. That can only mean the rear sprocket is different. Another thing that makes it sure that the rear is different is that they Bonneville final drive ratio is about midway between the America and SM, and those are only 1 tooth different at the gearbox end.

Actually, it's not just the teeth that are different (43 Bonnie - 42 America/Speedmaster), the entire sprocket is completely different. I just snapped this pic comparing the two. The Bonnie sprocket is on the right. -brent

Brent, do you sell either Esjot or Sprocket Specialists Sprockets for the Speedmaster. Both sprocket websites only list the Bonneville 800 (not America / Speedmaster), and I'd like the flexibility to change my gearing, without ending up with disparate sprockets like what you showed earlier.

Michael - The front sprockets are the same on all the twins. Only the number of teeth are different. Stock is America 17, Speedmaster 16, Thuxton 18, Bonneville 17.

Thanks Brent. They're clearly not interchangable parts. Yet another reason to embrace SS with love & warm.
