Longevity TIG. 200DX
I've been welding for many years. I used to be certified in MIG, TIG, and stick. Used MANY different welder brands.
I wanted to replace my stick welder that I sold 18 months ago with an AC/DC TIG. I read a lot of info and decided to buy a Longevity brand. for the money, can't be beat. Customer support is second to none. I use 2 different Miller welders at work, both TIG. I will post a comparison review after I build my luggage rack for the Speedy.
Yes, it's Chinese.
I can afford it, and I will use it.
Now I just have to wait until Thursday to unpack it

Can I ask how much? Only because I know how expensive the Miller and Lincoln welders are, and I would love to have a good one. Please update on quality after you get some hours on it!

I have actually heard good things about that welder but never seen one in person. Let us know how you like it, I have wanted a decent TIG for years. I have a Chinese MIG I bought from Harbor Freight years ago that works very well and is still going strong. I don't think they carry the one I have anymore though.

The latest issue of "The Horse" has an interesting TIG welder comparison between the Harbor Freight model and another mid-priced brand, but I can't recall the brand. Both did well, but the new slightly higher cost welded was rated higher than the Harbor Freight. I'll have to dig that article out.

I can't believe you took pics of the unwrapping process! I would have torn into that box so fast not even giving a second thought to pics until it was all out and there was a mess of cardboard and styrofoam strewn about!

Looks expensive, Is that for a specific metal or can it be used for stainless, aluminum and steel ect/

It will weld anything you want material wise up the limits of it's duty cycle. I will use it for steel, stainless, and aluminum.
While certainly not pocket change, it is very reasonably priced in comparison to the BIG BRAND names.

Ha ha, Miller and Lincolns service is no better based on everything I've read and I've read a lot. I've also dealt with Miller and service which isn't very pretty.
I would have to wait a lot longer to save the EXTRA 2300 dollars for their better "electronics". I can buy 2 spares of these with money left over for that extra cost. 
I use both Miller and Lincoln all the time, I'll let you know if the electronics actually better.

I am very interested in how this machine pans out if you paid a grand or less for it!

Ran some test beads today both AC on 12ga aluminum and DC on some 16ga steel tubing. If this thing holds up quality wise it's worth every penny. Arc is very controllable and stable.
I'll know more this coming weekend

Okay I have welded some aluminum for a friend, and started the luggage rack which is 5/8" diameter 16ga tubing. So far this thing welds like a dream! It has some quirks I don't care for but can certainly live with.

When using the foot pedal for amperage control, there is no readout of the amperage setting on the control panel. AND the control knob for the maximum setting when using the foot pedal is ON the foot pedal. Which means You have to bend down under your bench to set the max. Not a big deal, but certainly odd.
Also separate amperage controls for AC and DC on the panel. The foot pedal still has the knob so amp settings have one knob for AC/DC. Again not a big deal, just odd.
One thing I should mention is that if you weld like I do in most scenarios, you leave all amperage setting at maximum or near maximum and control everything with the foot pedal anyway so it's moot. When trying to weld 16ga tubing at odd angles, it's nice to control the maximum amps so as to not slip and blow a hole in it. WHICH is how I discovered the other oddities.
It really does weld very well though! In that regard I am pleased and impressed.

In a way, that makes sense. you can't predict the loss through a given rectifier, so you either use a separate control or add some $80 - $120 in sensors and electronic controllers.

It does make sense from a cost standpoint, but It's odd to me from an experience standpoint.
