I ordered a set of M-bars from Brent to try on my America. Does anyone know if I can use the 2" risers I have or if I need more height than that?

M bars are pretty narrow so I think you're going to need something like the 4" Speedmaster risers so you don't hit the tank. You planning to mount them right side up or cafe style?

Found another pic on BellaCorse. Looks like they are mounted "low" with the stock 2" risers as well.

tried a bike with buckhorns & hated them, maybe because they were on a sportster, but I felt like I was elbows to ribs.

I had buckhorns on the TBA. Loved 'em. Dropped the bike and bent the bars so had to put the originals back on. Will probably go back to the buckhorns later. Need to order new ones. Much more comfortable and could only tell a slight change in handling.

Here is my '03 America with M-bars....stock risers. The bars do come close to the tank when turned all the way, but I have not had any challenges whatsoever. This also depends fully on how high or low you have them turned.

Thanks for comment. Here is side view to show a little more. This photo was taken before I removed the Large Speedo and replaced it with a smaller one mounted in the console.

Did you go with a mechanical, or the digital/speed sensor speedo. A mechanical mini can be made to fit handily, but from my research with the addition of a 90 degree adapter http://www.speedograph-richfield.com/html/rgb2410_series.html

I went with digital pickup for this speedo. I wanted something very simple and found a post earlier about the Koso Speedo. It isn't ideal, but my main function for this was odometer so that I had some idea of fuel level through mileage.

This thread describes a little more of the process that I (and others) went through to get the set up working.

Digi speedos are well covered in this forum, in fact, for some reason the seller of my '05 removed an Acewell hours before I came to pick up the bike and re installed the huge OEM speedo and gave me a freezer bag with the digi and the stuff it came with, no explanation????, he just thought he should do it, the price was right, so I wasn't bitchin' at the time.

Those bars look great.

Where did you get that taillight? I've only found sidemount styles of those.

Cheers!

Thanks for the replies on this. I finally got around to mine. I had to use 4" risers to clear the tank
because I mounted them upside down and relocated my turn signals underneath, using the holes left by removing the mirrors.
I have about 3/8" inch clearance on the left since that light sits back a bit further.

The taillight is a Duolamp '28 Ford Style...available from a lot of different places. The mount was custom adopted from one of the side mount plates that you mentioned.

I wanted to keep symmetry for this bike and a side mount wouldn't work.

Cheers,
Steven

That's funny, 'cause I've kinda left them there to see how long they last. The back one's fell off about 2 months after I got the bike.

I'm tempted to leave the reflectors on Reboot, too. Just for the heck of it.
