The OEM Triumph fuel filter is inside the tank on an EFI BA and SM. Triumph schedule a replacement every 2 years or 12,000 kms. One of the replacements here is the BMW filter (a rebranded Mahle KL145). BMW recommend replacements every 24,000 kms. You choose.
Here is a list of replacements for the OEM fuel filter:
o Triumph Stock - T1240850 o AC (DELCO) GF61 o BMW - 16 14 2 325 859 o Fleetguard FF149 o Fram G2 o KNECHT MAHLE KL145 o Motocraft FG-2 o Napa Gold 3032 o Purolator - F20011 o Wix 33032 o Mahle 145
It's hard to source any of these here in Australia, I can only find the Mahle 145 from BMW shops at $24 each. But that is still a huge saving on the Triumph price here. In the USA you should be able to find some of these replacements for about $5 each.
Friar - sticky this please in the Tech Vault.

Richard, I just checked my manual (Canadian market), and the service interval is 2 years, 12,000 miles, or 20,000 km. I'm at 10,000 km right now, so before next riding season I get to change it.
I bought the BMW filter as you specified today at a local Triumph/BMW dealer. We compared the filters side by side, and they were identical except for the BMW/Triumph names and numbers.
The Triumph filter is MSRP $53 CDN. The BMW filter is MSRP $38 CDN. Still too much, but better than what Triumph wants for the same part.
The gasket for the mounting plate that attaches to the tank was MSRP $23 CDN. I didn't order one yet.

I just rechecked the manual and you're absolutely right. I read 12000 miles as kms. As a useful side note, I read on the Powerlet site that ... Quote:
...A dirty fuel filter can cause the fuel pump to use 120 watts, 60 more than normal. A dirty fuel filter is a common cause for a voltage regulator to fail on a fuel-injected bike.
Friar - can you please correct my error in the Tech Vault - change the replacement interval to 12000 miles (20000 kms). ( And if you can do it so it doesn't look like I made a booboo then I won't be continually reminded of my stupidity. )
