Beautiful bike, but I'm Just a bit confused here. You mention it's a 2011. I also have a 2011 in the same paint that I just took delivery of last week, but there are some significant differences between our bikes. For 2011 it was my understanding that that particular colour scheme included two-tone blue/white fenders. The front indicator lights on the 2011 bikes were moved off the handlebars and down to a crossbar on the front forks. The front fender was deepened to give a less "custom" and more "classic" look, and kickstand was moved back almost 12 inches to sit pretty much right under the seat to allow verticall challenged people like myself to actually be able to reach the stand (at 5' 4" I couldn't take the bike off its stand on the 2010 model...not a problem on the 2011). There are also some other changes Triumph made between previous years and the 2011 year, but these are the only obvious differences I can see between your bike and mine from your pic. Was yours sold as a 2011?

Lisa , Youre correct. Jerrys bike is probably one of those bikes mfg late 2010 which sells as a 2011. And the newer 2011s have the changes you speak of.

Great lookin' bikes there, Jerry! Welcome to the site! (...though would it have killed ya to smile a little there, dude?!...I mean, geeez, ya got yourself one great new bike there, and all we get is that "Clint Eastwood/Well, do ya feel lucky punk?" look?!...what's up with THAT, huh?!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

My America is an '08 although I was sold it as an '09. Someone showed me where to look when it was made. I think it's titled according to when it was sold rather than when it was made. As for the reflectors, keep em. Anything to keep you more visible to the cagers, the better.

Thanks for clearing my confusion Erwin! I'm still new, both to Triumph motorcycles and to this site, so I didn't realize that they sometimes change the years on the bikes when they crossover late in the season. No matter what the year is, Jerry, it's a beautiful bike. For some reason Triumph has stopped shipping that colour as of mid May...it's been replaced with the Caspian Blue and White. My dealer tells me that as far as anyone there knows, Triumph has never changed a paint colour for a given bike midway through a model year. Speculation is that the paint for that particular colour may have come from Japan and is no longer available due to the damage from the quake/tsunami. Whatever the reason, apparently the contact at Triumph has said that those of us who got the bike in that shade of blue are lucky because it makes them rather rare in this model year. If anybody has any information about this I'd be really interested in hearing about it. I'd also love to know the exact name of the colour. I've seen it called everything from Pacific Blue, Caribbean Blue, Eclipse Blue and even Caspian Blue (depending on which Triumph site in which country you go to). Not much agreement on the name it would seem.

Fuzzy, Your statement has been the source of a rather long thread over at RAT. The manufacture date was 05/10 but Triumph's calendar year runs from August to July. The VIN stamp is a "B" designating 2011. The America Classic is different from The America. I have a feeling that they threw in the bags, shield, bar & chrome wheels in order to move out 2010 stock.

My dealer called it Eclipse Blue / Crystal White, go figure.

Funny there's so much variation in the name. The Canadian site calls it Eclipse Blue/Crystal White, so if anybody asks, that's the one I decided to run with, since I'm a Canuck.

Gorgeous bike!!! Welcome to the site! There's a real lively group here that oughta make feel right at home. Glad you're hear! Also... I'm gonna lean away from it being called "Caspian Blue"! They only made a true "Caspian Blue" for a few of the early years.

Jerry, just noticed your post, AmyLee and I live just off the Hyw 152 along Robertson Blvd.(SR 233)which heads north into Chowchilla. We're packing for the SWTF in Prescott tonight and heading out tomorrow. We'll have to hook up soon for a run to the coast or the sierras. Welcome to the Bonnie site, tons of info here and then some.

Why would that be? I don't have any photos of my new Speedy, but I don't think I'll be removing the reflectors any time soon.
Cool pic, Jerry.
