Took a ride on a Thunderbird Storm today and I can definitely tell you that it runs a whole lot better than the 1600cc Thunderbird. I was pretty impressed actually it just seems like it will keep going and going with the 6 speed transmission. I had it up to 120 and I ran out of road before it ran out of engine. I don't know that I am crazy about looking down at the 2 headlights but I am sure you could get used to it. The front brakes, I felt were extremely strong, pretty much stop on a dime. The engine had plenty of torque and ran smooth too. It still seems like it is lacking something though, not sure what it is but lacking something none the less. Would I buy one? I would have to think about it a little more, maybe if I didn't already have my TBA. I want to ride the Rocket III Roadster before I make any decisions on anything. Beautiful day to be out riding today in fact I burnt my noggin a little too, I gotta remember to start wearing something on my head.

I definitely plan on it. They had one on the show room floor but not one set aside for DEMO rides. I will hit another dealership to see if they have one that I can take for a ride.

If I wanted to torture myself I'd try a Storm. The regular and big bore Thunderbirds didn't do anything for me.

Ask Dwight, he'll be glad to tell you what ALL Thunderbirds are lacking.

BTW, other than that whole "issue" of those aesthetically "anemic" fins on the T-Birds, I still think this bike would make one fantastic long-haul touring machine with just the addition of some nice saddlebags and a windshield. (...in other words, I wouldn't mind havin' one of these babies in my garage at all!)

She's itching for another long ride. She loved the last one. She knows you'll be back one day.

Maybe it's not so much what it's lacking, but maybe instead what it's packing???
Like about 250 extra pounds over the America or Speedmaster?
