A recent yard sale score. I'm not much into yard sales, but occasionally, will take a spin through our neighborhood when they do their annual event. I made it about 10 houses down the street when I spied this 18" of countertop. Neighbor said $10 takes it. I drug it home and cut off about a foot, than mounted it to my two "gorilla-shelf" frames. I think it looks pretty trick and makes a nice work space. I put my vist on one end and cut the old corian top pieces into working squares for rough stuff. My Altima needed a new exhaust manifold this week and in short order, the work bench looked like this: But, she's back to mint as of this morning. I also picked up the older Homelite saw for $20. It runs great, but needs the chain sharpened.

That whole thing is Corian? Jeez, that stuff is super expensive, good score for $10!

That's a pretty nice workspace there, Al! I take it the beer fridge is just out of lens shot?

Good find! I like pickin' through them every once in a while. I'm a bit shocked that an exhaust job on the Altima required a weed wacker and a chain saw though!

No, that is a solid surface counter. I did have Corian pieces on top of the shelves before, but the benches were just butted up against each other and the wall, with no lip. I kept loosing stuff behind them. I saved the corian pieces and cut them into 2'x2' squares for rough work. Here's what it looked like with the Corian. Switching to the solid surface piece added about 3' extra work space in bascially the same area. One day, I'll find some cabinet bases and put them under the counter top. I guess it is a work in progress.

No beer fridge, but that's right inside. I'll have to take a shot of the bike nook, it's on the opposite wall.

So, what part of the work on the Altima required the use of a chainsaw? I would like to see pics of that. Nice work top, and a good score. I wish my work space looked so good.

I understand now. We call Corian and Silestone and all those manufactured surfaces "solid surface" while the laminate or formica top is what you picked up. Still a solid deal!

Good find Al, I like it; When I did my own house mods 5-6 years ago, I re-used the 1961 era pine kitchen cubboards & cabinets for storage in the garage work area. The old front door became the new surface for the workbench. You have higher quality stuff jh

My space does not look good like that but I did get a good score a few years back. My shop in the Navy has 4 of the 6 foot butcher block work benches. It was one too many. YEP. I was able to get it home!!! put it between two of the steel shelves(the 7 foot ones from Home depot) and ran a shade tree shelf across the top. it works purty darn good! OH then I scored a fullsize BEER FRIGE from the inlaws after the bar went belly up. so it works pretty nice. lolol

Man, my garage looks like a bomb went off in it compared to your guys! Gotta have a work bench though, one of the first things I built.

You guys have garages that are bigger than my loungeroom. Oh to live in the United States. I wish I could. This is what I have to use.

When I did the house mods, which included converting an attached carport into a garage (w/door opener ), I harboured passing thoughts of just making it additional living space. The house is relatively small. But then the bike and truck would be outside and that just isn't syphilized
If I remember correctly the Mod from Oz Sandmann showed a photo of his garage years ago. It put the underground parking lot at the Ritz to shame
