Floyde, I see this post is a couple weeks old but. Had too much time on my hands a while back and I gutted my short TORs. I was trying some short 16" taped JC Whit pipes on the bike. I used a large hole saw to remove the rear plate with short ~3" pipe. That exposed the insulation wrapped long perforated pipe. I really just wanted to remove the insulation wrap but couldn't seem to get a hold of enough to pull it out. Knocking the long pipe out was a PITA. Here is a pic of the gutted pipes, perforated pipes & a messed up rear plate on the shelf of the saw horse.

Could not get the perforated pipes back into place correctly and just left them out. Decided to just put the rear plate & short pipe back in for some back pressure. Found some large 2&3/4" (I think) washers to use as a doughnut of sorts. Used lots of JB Weld to hold the cut out plate/~3" pipe to the washers and that combo into place where it had been cut out. After drying for a couple of days I put the gutted TORs back on. Sounded GREAT. A bit louder at idle, great roar under acceleration. Got concerned about the increase in exhaust flow as I had not made any changes on air intake. It's an EFI bike and the air box is still intake. No real fuel map found either. Found some inexpensive unmolested short TORs on Craigslist locally and put those on. I may yet put the gutted TORs back on now that I'm starting to open up the air intake. (Tune ECU can be a dangerous thing, local shop doesn't use it but he made suggestions & let me make map changes while on the dyno)
