Anyone replaced the fuel filter on an EFI. The filter is on the fuel pump inside the tank. It looks like a hassle and new seals required to do it. Is it a major task? Any tips?

Cheers, Richard

Hey Richard. I've read up on this a bit, but haven't changed mine yet. It's probably good to get a spare gasket just in case. I think its more of a hassle than anything else as the tank has to be drained. The entire pump assembly comes out of the tank, and the fuel filter comes out with it.

I believe that there are equivalent filters available. I haven't dug into it that much. I imagine Triumph wants some good money for their filter.

I hadn't thought about cost. I just had a look and Triumph want US$64 for the filter !!!!

Part 10 here on Lings Triumph parts locator.

That will be over AU$100 once the dealers here put their 300% markup on it. We must find a replacement option.

Hey Richard. Yup, these filters are expensive. I have found a replacement here:

clicky

A BMW filter will also work, and is $20 cheaper at Hermy's. "Fits all Fuel Injected Triumph's and R1100, R1150, K75, K100, K1100, K1200 BMW Motorcycles"

I seem to recall a Mahl filter also being available, but have lost its reference number

The replacement gasket MSRP is ~$18 US, so this entire fuel filter thing isn't cheap on EFI bikes. I'm going to take Triumph up on it's 2 year change interval. It's a pretty big filter, so it should be OK.

EDIT: try here:
