So I've been watching a number of NBA (National Basketball Association) games the last few weeks. Can someone explain to me why a 20 second timeout, generally takes +1.5 minutes from when the timeout is called to when the ball placed back into play. A full (1 minute) timeout takes upwards of +3 minutes. I don't really care, but being a literalist with a sweep second watch, why don't they just call it like it is ?? "The Bulls are taking a full timeout, so we can peddle a bunch of high priced advertiser dollar faster car/closer shave/smell better/six pack abs stuff to you". The T-mobile commercials are alright. I don't have a clue what they're marketing, but the girls are hotties jh

There's your answer. And it's not just professional sports, either. NCAA events on tv are subject to the same.
There really isn't a whole lot of doubt who really IS running this country.....

Ticket sales don't build stadiums, race tracks, field houses or scholarships and pro salaries. TV advertising does.

Don't watch anymore. Then they can't run the country or anything else. Commercial sales are based on ratings.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.
