I've been around motorcycles, riding and rebuilding since I was 13. Done my share of painting, and trying to find a way to fix up old nasty headlight buckets, speedo's, and the like. One of my co-workers is an Air Force TACP and he introduced me to Aluma Hyde. He uses it on all his firearms to prevent rust, scratches, and general wear and tear. So he hands me a small flashlight that he had "Aluma Hyded" to match his Ar15, but he didn't like the color so he asked if i could bead blast the Aluma Hyde off so he could try again with a darker tone. Well my friends, it took me 3 hours to bead blast the epoxy based Aluma Hyde off his 3" long flashlight!!! Thats some seriously tough stuff! This got me thinking that Aluma Hyde might be a great way to spray parts on my bike...Though I havent tried it yet, I though I'd pass on my idea... I think you'll need to be in a warm climate as the parts need to be warm and it dries better in the 90 degree range. Wow! Like you said Ryan, this stuff sounds like it would be perfect for blacking out parts on our bikes, and instead of going the more expensive powder-coating route! If I ever do black-out the front of my BA and my shocks, like I've been thinkin' of doin' for a few years now, it sounds like this stuff would be perfect for that! (...thanks for the heads-up!)

Brownells also sells a paint on Teflon -Moly coating that you bake on in your kitchen oven, that is even tougher and absolutely oil, chemical, and weather proof. The black is a good match on Speedy s. I've used it on engine parts both external and internal, it's even self lubricating. It will add a couple of thou. to precision dimensions.

Ryk, thats good info too! I do love the look of my America, but the black out concept keeps creeping to my mind.
If I dont go black, id eventually like to paint the chrome engine pieces a graphite color to match the graphite color on the bike...

That looks like a great product. Unfortunately they don't ship overseas (I imagine because of prohibitions on spray cans in aircraft) and it's not available in Australia.

I buy it by the Pint and put it on with a airbrush, aerosols are a bad value compared.
