Stopped in Cycle Gear to check on this helmet accessory, and for $20 it's the smartest money I've spent.

Fits inside the shield opening, and just covers the tip of the nose, with a fairing that keeps your exhaled breath below the shield. Thin leatherlike material (I'm sure it's not), and it really works.

Will probably come out when weather warms up, but now I can keep the shield down a lot more when stopped at lights, etc.

If I had to buy another helmet, I would buy another SHOEI RF-1000. I've been very satisfied with it. Even my shield still looks great after over 14k miles. It's a great system, through and through.

Hey Blackwind
I have that lid - but over here they call it the XR-1000.

I use the Pinlockâ„¢ visor which works brilliantly - just wish they would do min Pinlocks for my glasses!!

This lid is the most comfortable lid I have owned.
Fits nice and snug and is VERY quiet - almost no wind noise at all!!

I just checked the website and they do make a XXXL (in only a few colors). Does anyone know how the noise in this helmet compares to an Arai Quantum F? That's what I have right now and after a long day of riding, the wind noise is definitely a factor in how long it takes my ears to stop ringing (apart from the minor tinitus that I have). I've held my hand up over the sides of my visor (one at a time) and it reduces the amount of wind noise I get but it's hard to keep riding that way so I'm looking for other options when I eventually get a new helmet.

I have a pretty big noggin mate and the XXL fits me just right.

The annoying thing with having a fat head is getting lids to fit.
My Caberg was a snug fit too but when it was changed under warranty due to a lining fault, the new one didn't fit!!
I now have a brand new matt black XXL caberg in the box!!

When I tried on the Shoei, the guy gave me another XXL Shoei in a different model which sat on the top of my head like a huge black zit!!!

I'm glad I shave my head and have no hair otherwise nothing would fit me!!

I have short hair, so I doubt it's much of a factor. My main issue is that my head is LONG (that's what she said...). Anyway, I tried looking in some shops and the real oval ones only come to XXL aparently. I think I need to look in a larger place!!

The Shoei RF-1000 is what I wear (XXL). Great helmet! The aerodynamics are incredible. You hardly know you're wearing it. If you ride 2 up you'll see the difference in the aerodynamics as the back riders disturbs the airflow. Shoei did a great job with the RF -1000.

Not to mention the visibility factor - the RF-1000 really leaves little to be desired. Can't drink anything with it on (haven't tried a straw), but it is comfortable, quiet, and light weight.
