Seems nothing is straight forward in my purchase of a new America. I have a dedicated metal motorcycle garage. A nice fit and no nooks or crannies where a cat or rodent can hide so...

Last night at 3.30am the alarm went off, arghhh! went to the garage and turned alarm off, looked around but there was nothing else in the garage and although it is ventilated there was no wind so nothing to start off the alarm. Went back to bed and 10 mins later off went the alarm. Arghhhh X 2 ! Switched alarm off again and set it to immobilise ONLY. 10 mins later alarm went off again DOH! Must be a fly farting in my garage. I had to set the immobiliser to 'maintenance' and finally got a peaceful rest of night.

To my horror the dealer told me that the sensitivity of this latest immobiliser cannot be adjusted. I think it's faulty, they are going to check it out during its first service. If they can't then a refund will do and I'll get something else!

Rather alarming! (Sorry... comic relief?)

If I bought the New and Improved data tool alarm and the dealer said this to me, it would set off alarm bells

I bought my alarm 5 years ago and only had one issue 3 months ago when I couldn't de-activate it to start my bike.

Had to use my road svc membership to have it put on a flat bed towing truck and take it and me home.

I got onto the Internet and after googling found some info that said sometimes if there is abnormally high levels of electromagnetic activity such as in the path of radiated communications, it can interfere with the proper workings.

It just so happens I was parked opposite an indiscreet building where I know British Aerospace are occupied

Anyway, reset the alarm at home and all good.

With your problem though, it sounds like a faulty unit if it keeps activating for no reason. I wouldn't be paying too much attention to the mechanic though cos if all the "New" alarms were the same, datatool would possibly go broke.

Seriously, mine has been brilliant touch wood cos when I tour and stay at Pubs in Aus, its always comforting knowing the alarm would wake up half the establishment if any funny business happened.

Just my experience with mine and what it's worth to me in reassurance terms.

A farting fly??? Must be a pretty big fly. That's the only thing I can picture reading this post...
