Just purchased the chrome chain guard but I can't remove the screw (engine end of guard)off the old guard. The 6mm hex spanner is too small and a 7mm hex is too large. I have an assortment of metric and AF (Imperial) hex spanners but none of them fit. Went to the local ironmongers and he tried several without success. I find this weird. Any help here guys?

Alan

BTW I fitted a huge ammount of accessories on my last bike, a Honda Shadow with no problems at all. So this is very weird!

Bike Bandit has 6mm listed. I checked mine and it's a 6mm hex. Fits snug. Maybe try another hex spanner or some SAE ones.

Isn't a Torx is it, well I guess you would realize that?

I took my chair guard off a few years ago, but I remember one of the bolts holding it on was a torx, and the other was a hex. I don't remember the size torx.

Get a Dremel and slot the screw , soak it with penetrating oil , if it's still stubborn , heat it . New screws are cheap .

Saw the dealer today and his opinion was that the screw had been wrongly tightened causing the hex to become rounded. Seemed like he was accusing me. Told him flat that that screw had not been forced by me and the palor state of it was down to Triumph. He's agreed to fit the chrome guard FOA when my first service is due. It's pretty easy to miss something on day of purchase inspection, I couldn't believe how much paperwork there was to get through!
