Was just wondering what is the stock setting for the slides and is there a special tool used to check and adjust them? Thanks

being as they are vacuum operated bout the only way to adjust them would be to use a different spring(s).

If you are talking about what I think you are talking about. The diaphram is attached to the top (the vacuum piston) there is no adjustment. I know this says harley but forget that a keihin carb is a keihin carb.

I'm running Ninja springs in mine. They sneak up on you and attack without warning. Seriously, they improved throttle response and I'll never take them out, but my carbs are modified beyond stock so others results may vary

You might be better off with the Yamaha FZ1 springs, Dave.

I tested them, & they worked great with the stock slide air port hole dimension. I subsequently drilled out the transfer ports to 2.8mm & went to clipped OEM springs... the saga is in this thread: FZ1 Springs

If you want to check float level, hook a piece of clear plastic tube to the bowl drain and hold it up along side the carb. open the drain and the level in the tube is the same as in the carb. It should be about even with the seam where the bowl meets the body. (Just slightly below)

And allow me too continue Ian...if you need to adjust that float level you pull or push the float to bend that metal clip attaching it. Need I recommend being very careful not to over work it or that little bugger could snap off??!! Clear plastic tubing works perfect as described for determining float level. Have fun tearing into her. I always do
