New springs are an easy change, order your new gasket as well, I would coat the new gasket with anti-seize on one side, then if new springs doesn't fix it and you do need new plates as well, you can re use your gasket. Also if you prop your bike securely leaning to the right side as much as practical, you will lose minimal oil in the process. I strapped the bike with nylon slings and supported it with my overhead monorail. Oh yeah, don't lose track of the wavy washer on the starter, and don't fergit to put it back on when you re install the cover.
