For all you guys that have boobbed your rear fenders i have a few questions.
Did you have to repaint the fender after cutting it (I assume you have to) and if so how did you match the paint?
Anyone think there is a way to bob the fender with out having to repaint? I think thats a stupid question, but I had to ask...
I really want to chop my rear fender, but scared the local paint shops will F up the paint. Ive never had good luck with the local guys.

I only had to paint the edge of my fender so I didnt worry too much about exact matching...

After you cut the fender you are left with an exposed metal edge that should be coated. Put blue tape on the fender to minimize paint damage, when you do the cut. You can take a small paint brush and coat the exposed metal edge, again blue tape on the painted part of the fender. That is how I did mine, before I repainted.

Ryan, I bought a cheap used fender from pinwalls (with damage to the rear area, that was getting cut off anyway), so I didn't have to do anything to the original, then just repainted after bobbing it. Now I still have the "unmodified" one in case I sell, or just want to go back to stock. Just sayin'.

Thanks for the good advice. I had thought about tape, extar fenders, etc...I think I will try the tape and use a very fine grit cut off wheel. I'll touch up what I can or maybe find some trim to cover the cut edge?

You still need to coat any bare metal with paint...
