Has anyone tried one of these Helmet Lok? And can you tell me why it is better than this cheap lock? The Helmet Lok does not appear to be made of hardened steel and that's a big price difference.

Eddy (fasteddysports.com) sells them and has no doubt field tested 'em. Might want to contact him about this product. http://www.fasteddysports.com/?page_id=3&product_id=868

I use a plastic-coated, all weather MasterLock with long hoop portion to go around my luggage rack and through the D-rings. Works fine, hardened steel. Won't stop anyone from cutting the straps but few things will. If I had an expensive helmet like an Arai I would get this: http://www.pacsafe.com/www/index.php?_room=3&_action=detail&id=27

I have the Helmet Lok. Works well and seems secure. Got it from Fasteddy. No matter what, if someone wants your helmet, they will find a way to get it. This is just a little added protection.
Oh man!! I'm going to jail!!

I just have a Kuryakyn 4220 Chrome Universal Helmet Lock mounted on my highway bars. Works for my half and full face helmets. Like you said Dave, if someone really wants it they'll get it no matter what kind of lock you have. I like simple and mine is the simplest for me.

Use a Master Lock Gun Lock 0.22" (5.6mm) dia., 14" (35cm) long armored cable with brass ends prevents scratches. Can even hold my jacket as I had two grommets installed at the sleeves and I just run the cable through them. Plus it can even lock your bikes rotor to the fork leg! http://www.masterlock.com/product_details/GunLocks/107KADSPTWho needs more chrome crap hanging on the bike.

A friend of mine uses a pair of handcuffs to lock helmet(s) to his bike. Fairly secure and probably gives a hint that the stuff should be left alone.

Yes, but it could attract some very scary women.

A screwdriver used as a pry-bar could open either lok er lock easily enough. Probably scratch whatever the lock is around too. Motorsickles are like cage convertibles. You cannot really lock anything up on/in either. Doing so gets you damaged areas around the lock or slashed tops.
Arai helmets? Seems to me you can afford the theft.
HJC flip face? After one summer I kinda want someone to pinch it.
The saddle bags and tool pouch hold the good stuff anyways. Now me jacket is another thing. Easiest to carry/wear it. Cable loop locks I've used. Yet what to do with all the stuff in that jacket which is a defacto male purse?
Yes locks keep honest men honest. But they won't stop a thief who is eyeing your $800 lid...And chances are you'll have one of those pry-bars (screwdrivers) in your unlocked saddle bag to expedite the theft.
Given the above, the Helmet Lok looks like a decent product. One that should keep your lid from walking away for those so inclined.
