"Tom Tom, the satellite navigation company, has admitted that it sold information on motorists, gathered from its in-car GPS systems, which was used by the Dutch police to plan speed traps."

I don't see a problem with it. Do people really think that when you have a satellite tracking your every move, that the old info is just gone as soon as you make another turn? And just to plan speed traps? Big deal. TomTom is capitalizing on their product.

Thats just the begining. Buy in, get sold out, and so it goes.

You might not see a problem Dave, but I'm willing to bet a lot of folk do. I also reckon that tom tom will see sales drop off once people see how unscrupulous they are.
Makes me wonder who else they sold information to.

You gotta use the heavy duty alfoil and hang little dangly magnets from it. This deflects the satellite ray beams because of the magnetic field ... and keeps the flies off too.

Hey, guess what everyone, the internet service provider knows every site that you have ever been too! Yeah, not only that, but there is a record of every place you ever bought anything with a credit or debit card! If you don't want to be tracked, don't use gps, don't use credit cards, don't leave your house, don't turn on the lights, don't even get out of bed. THEY KNOW WHERE YOU ARE!!! AAAAAAAA!!!!!

This is why I won't get a Sunpass, a car with OnStar, GPS,
or that stupid thing they are talking about in the Progressive
Insurance commercials, that, "records your driving habits so we can save you money."
If you want to monitor me, you'll have to work for it.
Yeah, I have trust issues. And this little bit of info proves
them to be right.
And don't even talk to me about an Event Data Recorder.

If you carry a cell phone they know where you are anyway, many are GPS capable these days. I just don't like them selling the info.

Wendy has a Sony GPS that works pretty well if you don't know where you are going. I tried it on trips when I knew how to get there and saved myself quite a distance and amount of time by NOT following it on several trips. I keep my Tom Tom in the Jeep in case I need to to avoid a closed road or something.

If you use a computer and connect to the internet your right to privacy no longer exists. Anyone who thinks the data mining being done by private companies and the government cannot or will not be used to invade every nook and cranny of their lives has simply not thought it through.

It's best to assume everything you write, every site you visit and every action you take online is completely public. Similarly, every medical, financial and commercial record is completely available to anyone who can hack into it or get the right government official to sign off on it.

Laugh if you want, paint people as paranoids if that trips your trigger, but everything about you and all you do or say is now available for someone to see and compile. Just think of the coercive power that for awhile.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Orwell was less a fiction writer and more a prophet. Or maybe anyone with half a brain can see that ALL governments become corrupt over a period of time. So STOP giving them more and more responsibility for your life. Its not too late.
