I pretty much run the speed limit or a few over. Have been wondering why everyone else is going to fast. My Triumph mechanic told me today that Triumphs usually run about 10% slow on the speedometer. Which makes sense why people are passing me so much. Do others find this too? He said it's because of the conversion from kilometers to miles. Thanks.

I doubt it's because of the conversion because the metric speedos are out also. I think anything from 5 to 10% faster than you're really doing is common. New cars here all tend to read fast - I think the manufacturers are trying to avoid law suits - erring on the safe side of incorrect speedo readings.

Mine is about 10% off (not 10mph, 10%).

Mine is good to 30mph then it gets progressively slower... but I stick with about 5mph off over 30mph. I stay on the low side of 5mph over shown speed up to about 60. Once I get up over 60 I try and stay on the high side of 5mph over shown speed...and I run a GPS with a speedo feature so I usually use that anyway

Mine would exaggerated my speed by about a few %. That was when it actually worked. I wanted to make it into a clock. It's gone now.

+1. Speedo shows 77, I'm really going 70 mph.

Yeah, mine's off by about 10% as well, when it actually works that is. More than half the time I'm on the bike the speedo is like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryLH7vzPHns

Mine bounced all over the place after about 8000 miles. Ended up buying a new one. I had moved about 500 miles from the original dealer, and the dealer closest to me didn't want to help. So I just bought a new one and it is still working fine after 25000 miles. Seems to be about 10% off too!

I must have one of the few that is spot on. (02) I've had it checked twice by police radar, and it clocks exactly to mile posts.
