Thanks very much to our colonial cousins across the pond to remind us in England that it is St Georges day.

Every year I often wonder why we never have a public holiday and celebate being English?

After all it's not that bad ........is it?

Before the war on terror, if I saw an unattended package I used to think "I'll be having that!"

Well, I certainly wouldn't offer up this greeting to any dragons you might happen to cross paths with today, Tony.

(...word is he isn't one of their favorite Saints, ya know!)

From somewhere on the net...

"It's hard to face up to after more than a millennium but we've outgrown our patron saint. We've changed. It's not your fault George, we had some good times, but we're sorry; it's time to move on. You're just not doing it for us any more."

St. George, the dragon slayer.

Nah, I suppose not Graham, but I'm not so sure the idea of abstaining from sex on this day will ever catch on with the people on that little island of yours over there!!!

I'd wager more Brits celebrate St Patricks day thanks to great marketing by Guiness.
Don't forget Graham, celebrating being British is not considered pc. God forbid we should offend anyone for wanting to be British in our own bleedin' country

I have the 'pleasure' of visiting London a few times a month and as for the invite, I'm sure it's just stuck in the post somewhere .....
I have my "do I look like a f***ing people person" t shirt all freshly laundered ready.

Ya know guys, I'm thinkin' maybe the whole reason this here "St. George Day" thing hasn't ever caught the British public's fancy is 'cause maybe it's a little too, lets say, religious based.

Uh huh! Ya see, I think what you guys need is somethin' a little more secular in nature!

And so, here's my suggestion:

Why don't you guys set aside July 5th to celebrate! Yeah! Ya see, you guys could call it somethin' like, "We're No Longer Responsible For What Those Damn Yanks Do Anymore Day"!

(...of course, if you think about it, you guys should've been celebratin' this day for over 200 and some years now!!!)

We have been Dwight, we've just kept it quiet

Back on topic, I'd actually forgotten today was the 23rd, so I wasn't flying my flag of St. George on my bike when I went into town today

It turned out I was glad not to be as a certain political party were campaigning for the upcoming local elections right by where I park.

I don't want to be associated with them
