I have one one these: and one of these: and am wondering if they can be adapted to use TC18's idea: Actually what I really want is someone to do it for me for say $25 over the cost of supplies and shipping the remote. I'll supply the dip settings ahead of time. The remotes are sold here . I'll buy the remote and have it shipped to your house. Any takers?

Do you know how to solder? If so, I can give you pix and instructions on how I did mine.
I might be convinced to do it for you. Parts & return postage would be about $10 if you supply the keychain size remote. You would have to drill out the hole for the pushbutton (a Dremel tool works best for this.)
I also thought about mounting this behind the cover that goes around the ignition switch.

TC I think we would all like to see those. Even those who are just interested in the idea.

TC,
Like the turns signals you have on your ride. Where did you get the fronts and rear lights at?

Mounted my remote switch at this location, using a weather-proof marine momentary switch from Graingers. Here's the thread from last year, with a web how-to. Very simple mod, using it always makes me smile. Garage Door Opener Thread

donny, i have next to no feeling in my fingers (see my gallery ) so while i can solder, i prefer not to as i find it incredibly frustrating doing detail work. that said, i'd appreciate a look at the "how to" to see if i feel my digits are up to the task.

I just did this mod tonght. I put the canibalized door opener under the instument panel and mounted the same switch shown in the picture. I wouldn't do this mod for any money for someone else since it was the most irritating thing with setting off the opener too many times and the tiny wires and soldering with the equivalent of a cold tire iron and enlarging the hole for the switch. But, it's done, looks good and works like it should but I just realized that I will have to go back in there when that ****** battery runs low. I have the opener wedged behind the tach and between the idiot lights and it just fits.

I just got my Sears mini off E-Bay yeterday and picked up a switch. If I have time today at work will wire it up and stick it in tonight!! Wahoo the ultimate in lazy, won't have to walk that ten feet to close the garage door. ModelMaker

I got the "Magic Button" finished up yesterday and what a piece of heaven it is! It was sprinkling on the way home last night and when I pulled in the driveway I reached under my leg hit the button and drove right on in. I am the special one... ModelMaker
