In case you haven't been following along with my previous posts, here's what was going on:
2003 BA
Sceptre pipes
155 Main jets
When I bought it, it had the K&N FREAK air filters. On a very windy day, if the wind hit just right, the bike would get too much air and would die.
The place I bought the bike from put a factory air box back in. Worked, but ran rich and only got around 31 MPG no matter how I rode. When I took the snorkel out, if the wind hit just right, the bike would bog down; just like it did when it died with the FREAK (except, it wouldn't quite die).
Tonight, a man more learned and I took things apart and found the mixture screw on the right carb was out 2.333 turns. The left carb was out only 1.333 turns.
After much thinking, I had deduced it was probably the mixture being wrong.
We put the FREAK back on and fired her up. More air could be felt exiting the exhaust and the bike was noticeably louder than before.
The ride home sucked; rain, trying to beat the hail storm.
I had the bike up to a little over 95 MPH and it was still pulling hard. Before, the 95+ pull was a slow, labored one.
Popping on decel is almost completely gone.
I'm sure there will be a lot of tweeking involved to get it just right, but I think we're really close.
