Well not sure if this will Work . London's First Motorcycle self service and repair workshop . You Rent out a fully fitted workshop by the hour or longer if you want. £20 per hour. Not sure how many people would be able to do there own service now a days. If you could I would think you would do it at home as you would have built up experience over time and had a place to do it. One thing for sure is . You Wouldn't stop for a tea break or a puff on a cigarette. http://www.ovalmotorcyclecentre.co.uk/web/index.phpatb geoff

Sounds like a good idea, but the only way I'd rent out a space would be if there was a computer with internet access sitting right there on the workbench, so I could get on ba.com for help if and when I needed it!!

When I was in the Navy, every base I was ever on had an "Automotive hobby shop" that was pretty much what you're describing. I think the rate was $10 per hour for a stall (maybe more for a stall with a lift) and all the tools you needed (from screwdrivers to welders and everything in between). I thought it was GREAT! I mean, if you've got a Chiltons or Haynes book, $10 (or even £20) per hour is still a damn sight cheaper than bringing it to a shop! Yes, most people who can do their own work would prefer to do it at home, but not everybody has the space. I've got a pretty well equipped garage now, but when I was single and living in an apartment, I'd have LOVED to find something like that in my area. Quote:

Yeah, they'd be smart to at least offer free wifi (most folks have laptops today anyway)...

Every Army base I was stationed at had the same thing, and they had a few full time ASE mechanics to help out and give tips, and the bay was like 2 bucks an hour! Overnight parking was like $5. I always think it would be an awesome thing to have access to now.
Always remember to be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be someone else.

There are people who don't have a place to do the work, but could if they had a place. Folks who live in town houses, apartments, those who are traveling and find themselves in a pickle, and people who live in HOA's that dont allow you to do that kind of stuff.
Its actually a good idea. I have been on the road myself and needed a place to fix a problem it sucks to try to do it in a car wash.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

Yep Chad! I can just imagine how tough it might be to fix a problem on your bike with your eyes full o' soap suds...to say NOTHIN' of that big ol' wind dryer tryin' to blow ya all around!!!
(..."workin' at the car wash...workin' at the car wash, yeah!")
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Yeah... might have been that cheap (it was I while ago...SHADDUP! I'm not old!) Either way... pretty good deal for a broke bubblehead (or squid, or jarhead, or grunt... whatever you might have been).
