I took my carbs off to clean them. I didn't realize there was a vacuum hose on the tube between the carbs and it popped out at the bottom. Now I can't see where it goes back. Does anyone know where that hose goes? 2008 America

use a piece of 3/32" hose on the second picture from both vacuum caps to each other. That will assist.
by the way, also in the second shot, the yellow screw is the carb sync adjustment. Good look at it.

Sorry for the delay. Boy, what great answers and picture. The hose I am talking about is in the second picture, goes on the black plastic tube right in the center just above the green piece. In your picture the hose is missing. My hose is on the nipple in the picture and goes down by the trans but I can't see where it connects to. After I cleaned my carbs the bike started fine but the rpms would fluctuate from 2000 on up to 4000- 5000 and back down. I was thinking there was a vacuum leak and maybe it was this hose? What do you think?

If I understand you correctly it is the vent hose and it doesn't connect to anything unless you have a California bike. Should just be a little wire guide it goes through and hangs down to the bottom of the bike to vent the carbs.

To clarify it ran fine before you cleaned the carbs right? And I assume you reattached the hose on the nipple.
Does it pulse at idle too or just while your up in that 2000 rpm range only?
I cleaned my carbs and sprayed the vacuum rubbers with carb cleaner and it warped them and made one heck of a mess for me.

Dog, I'm glad to hear it is a vent tube. The bottom of the hose had a paint mark like when the factory marks bolts to make sure they're tight so I thought it had to go on a fitting. 08, good thought about the vacuum diaphragms. I didn't use carb cleaner. I wiped everything down with seafoam but maybe the diaphragms didn't seat properly. Now that I know the hose is a vent I'm sure there is a vacuum leak. Thats what I'll look for. Thanks for your help guys.
