Anyone got any idea if the seat on the 011 will fit on older SM? Isn't the new stock seat a couple of inches lower in height? How about comfort? Anyone sat on one or got the 011 Speedie?Think I read where the new seat doesn't have the quick release or something to that effect. Also any feedback on the maverick solo seats that were the hot topic on here a couple of months ago. Anyone got one & comments on comfort?
Thanks

I was in my local Triumph dealer yesterday. They had one '11 Speedy on the floor that had just been purchased, oddly enough by a guy I had pegged as a harley rider but I guess that's what I get for going by appearance only. Anyway so I sat on his new bike to test the seat and I wasn't too impressed. It supposedly sits an inch lower but I couldn't tell much difference and didn't think it was all that comfortable, but then I only sat in it very briefly. I asked the sales guys if it would fit an older model, but they didn't know for sure. Said they didn't know why it wouldn't fit but they hadn't tried it yet. Sorry, don't have any more info than that.

I sat on a new Speedmaster yesterday, too. Then sat on the '10 model sitting next to it with the same stock Gunfighter seat my '04 came with.

The new seat feels like plywood. Yes, it's lower, but at a price I'm not willing to pay. I always thought my stock seat was all-day comfortable, despite what others here said. My Triumph Touring Seat feels the same, and if any taller, I can't tell it.

I rode a new Thunderbird yesterday, too. It wasn't the bike I really wanted to ride, but it was easier to get out the door, and the my friend Jim (the sales guy) offered the ride, so why not? I put 15 miles on it, 1/2 on urban streets red-light-to-red-light, the other half at least getting up onto the Beltway and in to 6th gear despite the traffic. I feel the same about that seat, too. Plywood.

I noticed the middle of my back feeling sore last night, like I had pulled something, and it feels the same this morning. That is the only thing I can think of that caused it....

I wanted to ride the Storm (closer to the Speedmaster bar &
riding position?), or the RIII Roadster (I just love the profile of that bike, and would even with a much smaller displacement - it just looks "right" to me). I also would have like to ride the New Speedmaster just for grins, but that seat really gives me serious doubts.

I saw the new Tiger 800XC, and that is a mighty tall horse. I hope the Tiger 800 is not quite as tall, but sounds like it will be. After reading the new Cycle World write-up on the Streed Triple 'R' comparo, maybe that's closer to the right-sized horse I'm looking for? Imagine that, liking the Roadster, but liking the smaller Street Triple size?

(I'm confused)

But no way would I want a new Speedmaster seat on an older Speedmaster. Low profile or not, I want to stay in the saddle more than that!

I just had my stock seat modified by Spencer. The seat is very comfortable now and he took it down a little bit during the reshaping.

I did that same thing a couple of years ago. Best thing I ever did. Then it cost about $75.00 plus shipping. It might be a little more now, but totally worth it.

I'll be taking delivery of a 2011 Speedy, but it will be coming with the stock solo seat for a 2010 America instead of the seat that's been discussed here.

In my case, shortness (I'm only 5'7") and a mild handicap in my right leg make it impossible for me to mount the motorcycle because of the rather steep incline in the passenger portion of the '11's stock seat. I thought it a bit wide too.

From those here saying that the new seat on the 11 Speedy -- and America model too, I believe they're identical -- being like plywood, I guess my handicap made out good for me this time.

Having said this, it should be clear that the fitments on the new 11 America and Speedmaster models are essentially the same as in prior years. That inch of shortness comes more from modifications made elsewhere in the design.

I have the maverick seat. I took off the stock that would hurt my sacrum (tailbone) after about 30 mins. The maverick is much lower amd wider which gives you more butt to seat contact area. Which I think make it more comfortable. And I feel like I'm in the bike now not in top of it. If your looking for a long haul seat on a regular basis I wouldn't say it's the best choice. But I'm happy with it for my hour or so a day in the saddle.

I've heard good things too about spencers seats. Is more cost effective as long as you like the stock look. Of course there is also the Corbin that is highly debated around these parts too.

I just replaced stock seat with a corbin and backrest. The difference is amazing. My tailbone hurt after 5 miles but with the corbin i can ride all day. Pricey but well worth it.
