Hair Club for Men and bikers?

http://www.bikerspost.com/forum/topics/hair-club-hitches-its-sidecar

Quote:

It is among the most memorable — and parodied — lines from a television commercial: Sy Sperling, who in 1976 founded Hair Club for Men, would end his pitches in the 1980s and 1990s by saying, “I’m not only the Hair Club president, but I’m also a client.” As he delivered the line, Mr. Sperling, who appeared to have a full head of hair, held up a photograph in which he was nearly completely bald.

While unforgettable, those commercials are musty, and the company is beginning an effort that aims to cast the brand in a contemporary light by marketing to a narrow segment of those with male-pattern baldness: motorcyclists.

Tom, was that because you might be a bit hair challenged? Just guessing, but for any chrome domes out there, you should know you are part of a great and wonderful population segment. Well, just listen to this and you'll see what I mean...

If I was balding at all I'd just shave it all off. But I'm not. So I won't.

Just a wee bit hair challenged... it keeps getting thinner and thinner right down the middle. My wife and I were out recently and a guy walked by with a mohawk; my wife asked if I could do that and I replied "Nope! But I could do tail fins!"

I don't know about that chopper/HC combo. It seems to me a good percentage of hair challenged chopper riders just shave it as said previously. Don't forget the Fu Manchu too! always a matching combo. In the summer I'd drive by the harley dealer and they are having a party in their pavilion and 60% shave their heads and have the Fu manchu

Is there any truth to this market bullsh1t? I don't have any balding or thinning - just greying. I also heard balding is due to more testosterone - so it could be true. Bikers being more manly than most.

Hey Friar - lets have poll.

Happy?

Are bikers more manly than normal humans and therefore more often bald?

I started loosing my hair the day I met my wife (just a coincidence, of course). I Shaved it all not long after, although I had also shaved my head a few times before balding.

As for jokes....

My favorite line, being 6'5" is that I am just taller than my hair. I grew right up through the middle of it.

Then there is to old favorite, I'm not going bald, I'm just getting more head.

(kinda looks like me)

Certainly seems to imply that bikers are not "normal human beings". Which, incidently, I'd agree with.

I have a full head of hair, but I still keep it cut all the way down with a 0 clipper blade. I'd shave it, but the wife doesn't like the look of skin. I hate hair on my head. I'd love to go bald. Unfortunately doesn't look like it's in the cards. My 92 yr old grandfather still has a full head of hair, so does my 65 yr old Dad.

Well Doza, you could slowly over a few monthes pluck the hair out so it looks as though you are going bald. Then tell the wife I aint goin round looking like this I gotta shave it cause I aint doin the combover thing.

Its only a matter of will.

Not really that sure about their marketing there. I'd think that most bikers aren't vane enough to care about going bald and the few that are, would rather go bald than admit they're that vane.

Personally... Bald as an onion, baby!! And loving it! Been shaving since my late 20s (well before nature started helping me with the task). My only problem is that SWMBO gets to nagging if I let the stubble get too rough. For those who are follicly challenged: Just shave it and get on with it!

Also, kind of funny that they have a baldy guy putting together what appears to be their 'hair club chopper'.

I think you're right. How many bikers do you see with teeth missing? They would rather spend money on their bike - no vanity there. (BTW - I got false teeth)
<- me with no teeth in.

That's because it's a bloke thing ... we don't care what we look like and that just gets worse with age.

(...though it might help if ya put your teeth back in first!!!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
