I was asked to judge a singing talent contest. The fellow sold it like "American Idol". So last night I judged a karaoke contest (wierd). It was fun, and there were some talented singers. There were some that were well not so talented (I give em props for guts).
The woman who came in 1st deserved it she was very talented, but the Woman that came in second only got there because she was the pretty one. She did a good job of the 1st song, but completely blew the second song. I left a bit irritated over it because the prizes are big including some recording time. She didn't deserve that spot she should have been 4th at best. If it were a beauty contest she would have been first but it was supposed to be about singing ability.
Oh, well just a rant to blow off some steam.

Judging a Karaoke contest, wow, what a trip! I'd never be able to do that.
I volunteered with some of the girls in the Miss Washington program, but on the local level and 2 seasons were enough for me. Believe me some of them are MUCH LESS talented than they think they are. Talk about self centeredness.

Yea its kind of funny. The ones with less talent are some times more difficult to get along with.

This sounds awful.

Probably the funniest karaoke night I have ever witnessed was in a pub next to a care home for people with learning difficulties.

It's probably wrong on so many levels but some of the residents were in there and having a whale of a time on the microphone.

It didn't help that there was a load of us from the army in there but hey we cheered them on and anyone not from there got booed off.

Every time I hear "born to be wild" now I have a bit of a grin and think back to probably one of the funniest nights out I have ever witnessed.

Ok enough of that political correctness.

So now Chad should we start referring to you as that Simon Cowell bloke from Texas?

Hahaha, no Graham I am not enough of a doushe to be Simon. Close but not quite. Its cool yall didn't give the disabled guys hell.
No Newt that would be cool though.

I got this gig from a guy who promotes our band around here. He always has some kind of wierd stuff like this going on. Next week our drummer is the guest judge.

Ya, but were you at the only pub along the only street in Cambridge, ID 5-6 years ago watching funky, local talent karaoke with Friar John & Soren and Roadie - Hai Carumba!! The evening was topped sitting on the Rancho Delux motel front yard bumming cigs off Soren, second only to bumming cigs off Rene Louis in the parking lot of the Golden Palace in Nelson, BC or bumming cigs off'n Uncle Charlie & the yutes in the Taj Mahal parking lot in Georgia. Dang, I sense a trend, could be why I don't get invited back......much

It was aweful! Nothing like really bad country music sung exrelmely badly. I'm sure they scheduled it that night on purpose in an attempt to chase us out of town.
