O.k was reading on this site ( http://www.magnecor.com/magnecor1/truth.htm ).I was wondering if anyone was running the TPUSA Racing Competition Ignition Cables?I would have to believe atleast 1 of you folks have them.
Thinking of dumping the noligy wires for them but thought I would get the clans opinion first.
Thanks

as long as you are getting a good hot spark I don't know why you would change.

Same debate going on here:

I noticed no difference when I changed out to Nology wires and coils...do a search on this site for Nology wires

I agree completely. I have seen people do crazy ignition upgrades on stock bikes or bikes with minor mods and run into nothing but disappointment. I've done much more with Harlys then anything else. A higher voltage spark will only wear out spark plugs faster and anyone who feels a difference is imagining it (IMHO).

If you question whether the spark is hot enough. check it by placing your tongue between the terminal end and the sparkplug tip and turn the engine over. If it kills you it is a good spark.

No man, It just ignites the fuel/air mix in the combustion chamber. That said, I'd buy the highest quality wires I could if I needed new ones. But that's gonna be a long way down the road, unless someone steals mine.

I run standard plugs and wires.

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

+1.

If you feel the need to spend the $$s for these wires, may I suggest giving the money to Frank and I.

That's the best suggestion I have heard for months.

My plug wires have done 33000 Klms. since I bought the bike and still OK. I check them for cracks and splits when I think of it.

I put in new NGK standard plugs 13000 Klms. ago. Actually had them out last week to check the gap.

The gap was still as it should be.

It's amperage that kills, not volts, electric chairs only run about 8 amps, but with lots of volts to deliver the mail.

5/8ths of one amp will kill a human, good thing to keep in mind.

The spark is hot enough if your engine runs.

Get high quality because it'll last longer and be reliable. There is no voodoo to get hidden horsepower in spark plugs or wires, once the fuel/air lights, it's lit.

I run Magnacore HT leads on my '71 Tiger. Not because I believe in any advertised hype or website claims but rather from experience. A few years ago I attended a series of evening automotive tune-up and electrical courses at my local technical college and the only HT leads the college would use on all their workshop test engines were Magnacore. The reason my teacher gave at the time was that these leads were the only ones that the automotive school had found that could withstand the abuse of being tugged on and off spark plugs and distributors hundreds of times a year and keep on working successfully without breaking down. About 2 years ago my 1971 TR6R Triumph Tiger developed a problem where the r/h cyclinder felt like it was running quite a bit hotter than the l/h one when I felt the exhaust gases coming out of the Dunstall mufflers (no balance pipe). As I ran my hand further up the pipes towards the header pipes this was also confirmed. Thinking it must be an ignition or mechanical related issue (I eliminated fuel as Tigers only run a single carb) I then measured the exhaust at various points on both pipes with an infra-red thermometer and the temperature difference was 40deg C. It turned out to be a bad fitting spark plug cap from a brand new set of NGK HT leads from my local Triumph classic dealer. I took these HT leads to the loacal Magnacore agent who fabricated a new set of Magnacore leads and they have never missed a beat since and look kinda cool in racing red. If my TBA HT leads ever play up I think I will probably go down the same route and go for a set of Magnacore HT leads on that too, just because of the history I have had with them.

I don't think I will have a problem.

My HT leads come off about twice a year.

Sorry, sorry he says.... Man, you've messed up more threads talking about the weather Suprised the fellows haven't banned you from the site. Your friendly Canuks have been forced to take things personally and are extremely hurt over the lack of sensitivity the Commonwealth brethren have shown towards us Northerners.

Oh...My wife's tired of the whole weather thing also. She's off to California next week with some friends for some quilting training (Don't ask - it's her business). That means I get to go on a tour this summer.....without having to worry abnout her.

Have fun in Bali. My wife had the opportunity to travel there with her best friend a couple of years ago. They had a riot. Take care.
