Thought this was cool and thought I'd share. The only issue I could think of is...what a bummer if the door(s) broke down somewhere inconvenient.

I like the way Kaiser did it back in the early 50's.

A guy who lives near me has a Darin, beautiful car. Those cars in the video look like Lincoln MkVIII's, 93-98 era. I'm guessing this product didn't make it?

This looks like a great way to turn a minor door ding into a several thousand dollar event, and a pretty good fender bender into an opportunity for EMT's to break out the giant can opener.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

That was pretty cool, Chris! And while were on the topic of retractable stuff on cars, this has always been one of my favourite innovations... the retractable hardtop! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNNoVbgPX0M&playnext=1&list=PL8850207775A8CAF1

Those are nice, too bad the war prevented Chrysler from following through when they invented that concept on the '41 Thunderbolt.
