Ok getting close to ridin' weather again so was going through my stuff. Checked out my full face hat and noticed it is just a wee bit ripe. Dawned on me that I've never cleaned the padding pieces that will come out since I've owned it. Also dawned on me that I'm not real sure what I should do to freshen em up without trashing them. What does anyone else do?

Hand wash with warm water and some mild soap, baby shampoo maybe. Rinse well. Add a dab of cologne if you like.

Baby shampoo is as mild a soap they make and still produces bubbles, sounds like good advice to me. Kinda smells nice too.

This thread reminds me why I'm glad I have an ozone generator. Just orient the machine so it spews out ozone into the cavity of the helmet and the smell is gone. Works GREAT for freshening up the inside of a car too among the other 101 uses!

Great idea. I used a strong detergent when I washed mine. Next time it will be baby shampoo. The rinse & wash water had no ill effect on the helmet innards. (A Shoei Santa Cruz half helmet) Couple hours in the sun and it was fresh as a daisy.
Off topic thought - my helmet is black. Next time maybe I'll go with white to keep the heat & stank down a might. Just sayin...

A good reminder to do the liner on my Scorpion helmet, they've never been out either.

take a bath and bring your helmet with you.
If it isn't broke, I haven't messed with it.

Hand wash the bits that can be taken out. Use Woolite. Then make up a solution of woolite and dump that in your lid. Swish it around. Agitate with your fingers, then dump it out. Rinse then let dry. You might have to use a bucket to clean the lid in...
