Here's my trusty old 199X Honda Steed 400cc V-twin made to look like Harley something or other. I believe this model was called Honda Shadow VLX in the States. It's a very reliable bike. I had a custom seat and crash bars put in. I love this thing. It's not the fastest or the meanest by a long shot, but it works!   My bike is in the middle:

That seat looks very comfortable. Not sure if that size bike would hang well on the open roads here in Tejas. There's usually some distance between you and the country store (where I ride anyway).

I've taken it to Bangkok, a 100 mile trip and my friend took it to Kon Kaeng, about 200 miles. Some guys have taken similar bikes on rides all over Thailand, although there are quite a few who've done it on scooters.

I have had three Hondas in my time. Gotta say I liked the ones I had. Lotsa fun runin the streets of Chicago in the day (teen years hahaha......I thought I was cool)on the cb500. All the ones I had were nearly indestructible.
( At least the wanton way of my youth didn't harm those bikes............)

Yeah, these things really take a licking and keep on ticking. They're not the sexiest machines out there, but they're work horses and since having a bike here is more of a utilitarian endeavor than a recreational one, reliability is much more important than sex appeal.

I kinda know what you mean here, Alex. I still have fond memories of when I was all of 19 years old(in 1971) and the first time I visited Hawaii for the first time. I rented a little Honda Super Cub and rode all around the island of Oahu on it.

I started on a cb350 for my first street bike. Rode that thing everywhere. Couldn't seem to wear that bike out. Did many 500 plus mile rides with no problems. Of course I was much younger in the 70's too. I think that bike was what hooked me on parallel twins.

my first bike was a nighthawk 450. probubly the reason why i like the parallel twin also

The handle bars are a bit close to the seat. I think I would prefer a slightly longer and wider stance, but otherwise, it's ok.

I used to have the 600cc[which is called the vlx shadow in the states]in Thailand.
I got a mustang seat for it and rode from Chang Mai to Khonkaen[about 700ks] in 8 hours.Not fast but they'll run all day.
